Another thing I 'discovered' - a little bitty bowling alley next to the Caboose. Anybody know how long it's been closed and why it closed? It's not like it had competiion!

Oh my gosh... if someone manages to keep a Vietnamese restaurant open up here, I'd be like a pig in mud! I love pho and this other dish (I forget what it's called) with lemongrass and vermicelli and beef on top!! YUM YUM YUM!!!

The good ol' bowling alley. I'm not sure why it closed. It was small and unless you were part of the leagues it was really hard to get a lane. They started having bands play and the light shows for the teens right before they closed. Sniff...Sniff. I miss the bowling alley.

I've been to the Red Caboose once. I was with my sister, and the place was packed. I have to admit it was a little scary. I remember the cops came in and had a flyer with a man's picture on it. The guy was wanted and they were looking for him in there.... Right about then I looked at my sister and said, I think it's time to leave!. lol If you like dives.............the Ally Cat in Bakersfield is a MUST! lol I went to go into the bathroom in there and almost died. Peeing myself was a better option.

CG, your story about the cops looking for someone reminded me of what happened to one of my brothers here, gosh probably 30 years ago. He's in construction and was working on a house in I think BVS. He and his partner were in Kelcey's when two cops came in, one stayed by the door, the other one approached my brother's table with his gun drawn, demanded my brother place his hands on the table and to then produce his id. To make a long story short, there had been an escapee from the prison who my brother I guess looked like and someone had called the police. My brother has the same big mouth I do and and when the cop was satisfied my brother wasn't the escaped prisoner, my brother looked at the cop and said, "did you really think that if I was on the run I'da stopped in town for f**king breakfast?"

Sigh...back in my younger days - lol - I was a Dive Diva. Me and my two best friends in our shortest, tightest mini-skirts. We weren't drinkers, but loved to dance. We'd stay till closing time then go out to breakfast, sometimes with the band.

My son was introduced to his wife by one of the bartenders at the Caboose. They like to go have lunch there once in awhile but they both no longer drink, thank goodness.

And really gube - what exactly makes you think I have anything against AA? It was a pretty short post and I've read it several times, but maybe I missed something....

Aaaahhhh, the " Cabooty "! I had the " shoulda left when I could " experience. I got My " Cabooty " kicked there once, by " Shezilla ", other than that, good times. I wouldn't want to see it in the day, well, w/the lights on. I remember the bowling alley. My girlfriend & I used to come up to visit my G's years ago, & we'd go there @ night. We were sure that was the only place open. If I only knew I'd be blogging about,some 18 or so yrs, later. Joty, the friend, graduated from MUHS, real close to your daughter.

Oh gosh, the bowling alley has been closed nine or ten years I think. I don't think they could break even operating it.

I didn't know we had a real, alcohol-serving bar in town. Why haven't the church people shut it down like the Branch Office? Shouldn't they have their infants and toddlers in their arms at nine o'clock at night, parading in front of the bar, pointing out how the children in the community are being harmed by the bar?

The Branch Office wasn't harassed until it brought in bikini dancers. This had been preceded by several exhibitionist patrons, egged on by management to twirl around a pole it had installed.

An excellent example of a grass-roots public effort by dedicated community volunteers resulted in a successful defense of Tehachapi. Had they not done it, the VFW location would be a strip bar today.

The bar at the Summit Motel is also in the city limits.

The Bikini pole dancing was a last ditch desperate attempt to save his already failing business.......While the religious wackos that demonstrated outside didn't help his business it was was not the cause of the business closing down....Tehachapi was to small of a town to support a strip club........Do any of you remember when the branch office was pizza place....they sold the best pizza in town..

I used to go there often before the bikini crap........10 years ago these bars all had it going on....I had alot of fun ...... then almost over night it stopped....I think people got scared of DUI'S...........I have never been one for strip joints......The one that I have been in creep-ed me out......Those type of places attracts to many weirdos..............

You call them religious Hero's and I call the religious wackos .....so I guess we'll disagree on that to......lol
