ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN LAPEL PINS

So the Pastor Jeremiah Wright said a lot of inflammatory things about the USA that Barak Obama has been paying for all year. I quite agree, his comments were ludicrous. Although we are not pure as the driven snow, I do believe we are still the greatest country on earth. I would not wish to live anywhere else but do we observe a double standard?

FOR $64,000 WHO MADE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS:

"I'M AN ALASKAN, NOT AN AMERICAN AND I'VE GOT NO USE FOR AMERICA OR HER DAMNED INSTITUTIONS"

If you guessed Joe Vogler, founder of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party you are correct.

Why would Sarah Palin's husband voluntarily join this man's political party of which she and her husband were both members well into the 90's?

Another thing. I've been watching the RNC Convention with interest and with all this conjecture about who has the biggest American flag lapel pin and John McCain running on his record as a war hero, how many have actually examined McCain's record with regard to OTHER WAR HEROS, those being the men and woman of our military, past and present?

Well here it is at a glance:

In 2005, Sen. Daniel Akaka, a veteran himself, now chair of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, introduced legislation that would have increased veterans' medical care by $2.8 billion in 2006. He also introduced another bill that would have set aside $10 million for "readjustment counseling services" - a program to provide a wide range of counseling, outreach and referral services for those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, to ease their readjustment back into society. This program was started in 1979 for Vietnam veterans, so one would think McCain is quite familiar with it.

But McCain voted this effort down.

The following year, Akaka requested $1.5 billion for veterans' medical care and an additional $430 million for the Department of Veteran Affairs for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. But, once again, McCain voted against these proposals, while offering no measures of his own.

In 2005 legislation was introduced to fund additional medical care and readjustment counseling for Iraq veterans with mental illness, post-traumatic stress disorder or substance abuse disorder. McCain voted "no" on both.

In 2005, and again in 2006 other legislation was proposed that would have indexed veterans' healthcare benefits to take into account the annual changes in inflation and veterans' population and proposed paying for the indexing by restoring the top tax rate for those with income of more than $1 million. McCain voted against this too.

In subsequent years there were other bills to restore benefits that were historically provided under the GI bill and other attempts to provide for veterans in various ways and McCain shot them down as well.

McCain's voting record on veterans issues is dismal folks. Check it out for yourselves.

You will make what you like of this but these actions speak much louder to me than who is wearing the largest red white and blue lapel pin.

Liberal Pinko Bleeding Hearts?

My recent blog entry written by an old friend of mine, entitled "Letter From A Dear Old Friend" got me to thinking about how everything has changed. My friend noted that we have invented "new names" for "things and acts" that already have names, as a technique of denying what those things and acts actually are or represent.

I would add to this, the very word "conservative" itself. Talk radio provides a constant drum beat of those who call themselves "conservative" but are they?

Not by any traditional criteria that I can think of. Yes my friends, "neo-con" which of course stands for "neo" or "new" and "con for of course, "conservative" translates into "new style conservative" which of course means NOT conservative at all by any definition known to literate man other than by virtue of demonstrating abject contempt and hatred for all things perceived to be "liberal" or "progressive", two words which translate in the "neo-con lexicon" loosely into "anything for the social benefit that has the potential to interfere with commerce". It also translates into "contempt for any military restraint" what so ever as was graphically illustrated when Ron Paul, THE ONLY TRUE CONSERVATIVE in the GOP crop of candidates was all but ridiculed and booed off the stage during the Republican debates.

To underscore my point, I will post a speech that will be familiar to many in my age group and I will challenge you younger citizens, particularly talk radio listeners, to identify the "non-troop supporting" "liberal pinko commie" "terrorist loving" "America hating" "leftist" who said the following:

"Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defense; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research -- these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel.

But each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs -- balance between the private and the public economy, balance between cost and hoped for advantage -- balance between the clearly necessary and the comfortably desirable; balance between our essential requirements as a nation and the duties imposed by the nation upon the individual; balance between actions of the moment and the national welfare of the future. Good judgment seeks balance and progress; lack of it eventually finds imbalance and frustration.

The record of many decades stands as proof that our people and their government have, in the main, understood these truths and have responded to them well, in the face of stress and threat. But threats, new in kind or degree, constantly arise. I mention two only.

Our military organization today bears little relation to that known by any of my predecessors in peacetime, or indeed by the fighting men of World War II or Korea.

Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades.

In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.

The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present

and is gravely to be regarded".

Now I ask you mah chilluns, what "unpatriotic" "military hating" "pinko commie liberal" uttered these words?

A LETTER FROM A DEAR OLD FRIEND!

Marty Tryon is one of my oldest, dearest, and most respected friends. Apparently, someone sent him that e-mail that we have all seen a million times about "the good old days" that asks "how did we manage to survive growing up" with lead based paint and playing on the streets without supervision etc. Of course in his inimitable fashion, he clicked "reply to all" on the e mail list and passed it along to me as one of the recipients. I think there are a great many truths herein and that it is a brilliant little piece of writing so now I will share his wit and wisdom with you!

Hello my friend,

That was a REALLY FUNNY letter, and so true! Thinking of all the really dangerous things we kids used to do or were exposed to in the old days really brings back some wonderful memories, and no, I didn’t make the little league team on my first attempt either! But I did love standing up in the front seat of my dad's '51 Chevy! No seatbelts! That old Chevy was great. The musty smell of old corduroy upholstery still lingers in my mind...and an old tube AM radio that took ages to start playing...I miss that.

You know, the only part of your fun letter that is bothersome, is in the last paragraph---and it is NOT so funny that this is such a common misconception. This misconception is often spread around like it is here in your funny letter, and I don't think much thought is given to it by most of us. We hear it so much, and joked about it so much that we are numb to it. It’s upsetting that a lot of people believe it, and even though it's not true, it is useful to those in power, because it gets the people to direct their anger in the wrong direction---diverted away from the true cause of the underlying problems. It seems to me we aren't thinking much for ourselves anymore...we happily forward something like this along without looking at the deeper meaning it carries, and it’s the deeper meaning I find so worrisome. I would like to elaborate.

The problem sentence reads; >> "You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the LAWYERS and the GOVERNMENT regulated so much of our lives for our own good" <<

The lawyers and government did all this? Oh really? No, I think not, and the only purpose that incorrect statement serves is to make people angry, and divert their anger away from the true cause of our problems.

That bothersome sentence is what "THEY" want you to think. "THEY" want you to think that all the values and freedoms that are slipping away from us are brought about by evil liberal lawyers, the extremely evil ACLU, and the evil government---but who are "THEY" anyway? And what could “THEY” possibly gain from spreading misconceptions like this?

Please indulge me with an admittedly over simplistic but true explanation; you see, corporations don't like being sued, (toxic wastes, employee safety, unions?) Addressing those issues is bad for profit, so "THEY" hired lawyers. Corporations also don't like governments regulating them, so "THEY" invented lobbyists, and made sure renaming the word "bribing" to “lobbying” was legal, and slowly over time, “THEY” BOUGHT the government. It took a while, but now that "THEY" are running things, "THEY" have gone back to their corporate "owned" congress and had their buddies re-write many of our long-standing laws in their favor, or worse, “THEY” now have the power to just ignore them. Has anyone noticed lately that corporations are beginning to have more rights than citizens---or is it just me?

(“This conversation may be monitored for quality control purposes”…but don’t say that you are also recording them. “THEY” won’t allow it. For fun try it sometime!)

And while we're reading of the funny dangers we were exposed to as kids, here are a few good old-fashioned American concepts that I think should be brought back and put on the fun list you just sent me. Maybe they could be added for a whole new meaning? (But I think perhaps it is naïve of me to think this, for this was NOT the author’s intent.)

I'd like to see the following good ol' American values come back; Obviously, I'd love for our kids to be able to play outside until the street lights come on, and while I'm dreaming, I'd like for my phone conversations and mail be private again too. I'd also like my bank records, where I shop, and what I read be my own business---just like the good ol' days. I'd also like what I buy, eat, sell, and where I go, be my own business---but those days are over now. We must all be WATCHED very carefully, for it is a very dangerous world! How silly of me, I should have known that all this “watching” and prying into my private affairs is only for my own protection. After all, “THEY” keep telling me “THEY” want to keep me safe from all the new and evil worldly dangers. But personally, I find this to be tragically sad, as I would rather take my chances, keeping my privacy and my freedoms intact thank you.

It seems to me there is something in our wonderful Constitution about guaranteeing my right to privacy and freedom---or have “THEY” re-written that? Oh yeah, "THEY" did. It's called the "Patriot Act". Gosh... I would hate to be thought of as un-patriotic, so I guess I’d better not question that…

Speaking of the "Patriot Act", something else is very troubling. It seems “THEY” are using so many euphemisms these days. Here's an important CLUE for everyone---please pay attention to this---and think about it; If there is one thing that you can be absolutely sure of these days, it is THIS; If your philosophy requires you to rename something that already has a word for it...then you must be up to no good, or at the very least trying to fool somebody.

Here are some examples; Torture is now called "enhanced interrogation technique". There are clearly written laws against torture, but I haven’t found any yet for "enhanced interrogation techniques". The America I grew up in wouldn’t torture anybody, but I’m not so sure about the America I live in now, and that makes me very sad.

Allowing more coal producing air pollution now falls under "The Clean Air Initiative", more logging for lumber production is now "Save the Forests", and my favorite one of course; the loss of freedoms under the guise of protecting all of us is called "The Patriot Act". Naming something to do with “patriotism” must be good---right?

Is all this nonsense really necessary? What ever happened to Constitutional Law? I miss the good old dangerous and unsafe days. I really do. I would like to be left alone to simply take my chances with the laws in place that served us so well for so long, and give me back my old tried and true freedoms. I liked them very much, and it was those laws that built up America. It seems like the new laws now have us in serious decline.

So that’s another old-fashioned concept I'd like brought back and put on your list---constitutional law. How simple... Silly me for thinking this, but when Congress issues a subpoena to an elected official, I think they should be required to show up, don't you? Now THAT would be patriotic wouldn't it? You and I would have to show up. Why don't "THEY" have to show up? Think about it---who is running things if "THEY" don't have to show up? Well, I guess "THEY" are.

Here's another old concept that I seem to remember that served America pretty well for the last couple of hundred years---and I'd like to see it brought back and put on your list too; It would be nice if you still had the freedom to criticize our government and our elected leaders without it costing you your job, being blacklisted, or being labeled “unpatriotic”. Redress of grievances maybe? Yeah, that's an old-fashioned Constitutional idea. It’s OK for the little guy to shoot his mouth off because he doesn’t have a dangerously powerful forum. But if you have a great job, or position of notoriety, then you had better keep your mouth shut! Just ask the Dixie Chicks... Corporate censorship is alive and well when "THEY" own over one-thousand TV and radio stations and decide "THEY" are NOT going to play someone's records anymore because of a simple statement of personal individual opinion. (Lawyers and the government didn't do that---the Clear Channel Corporation did!) By the way, I think they are getting into the newspaper business now, or trying too---oh joy. I wonder why? Well…

I’ll tell you why, and here is the really sad part; In case anyone hasn't noticed what has been sneaking up on us, and what it is called, I can tell you. A corporate controlled government is not called a Democracy, or a Republic---it is called Fascist. (Go look it up). Fascism, coupled with the new militarization of our citizenry and society, and you end up with what we live under now---A CORPORATE RUN POLICE STATE. And “THEY” keep pummeling us with subliminal reminders of this all the time. It’s just little reminders, but it’s constant.

Maybe it’s just me, or maybe I’m silly, but I really don’t like F-16's flying over my football half time, and I find it pretty creepy, that I have to stand and sing “America the Beautiful” and salute our troops at the baseball game’s seventh inning stretch. And lastly, I find it pretty creepy, all these spooky whispering voices in subliminal TV commercials for stuff you and I can't buy, like Lockheed Martin's "how" commercial that capitalizes on peoples fears. Why does that guy whisper? Is it a secret? If so, what is the secret? And what is he trying to sell me? I don’t see any Lockheed Martin products on the shelves. If I can’t buy their products then what do “THEY” get for their millions of dollars spent on advertising? Influence in the news reporting? Nah, that couldn’t be---could it? “THEY” must get something…

I’m uncomfortable too with all this new "super-nationalism" that "THEY" manipulatively created after the events of 9/11. You see, I get a little nervous when there are TOO MANY American flags flying all over the place. Now don’t get me wrong here, our flag is wonderful, and I love what it used to stand for, but I seem to recall the overly used “flag look” got a little out of hand in early 1930’s Germany, and I’m starting to sense that happening today, right here in America.

As Chalmers Johnson so aptly puts it in the last book of his eloquently written best-selling trilogy on economics; We are living in, and experiencing, that which will bring about the "Last days of the American Republic" (title). We peaked long ago---it is over---and the Fascist's greed and self-serving actions will assure it is irreversible. I suggest we all get in line, and march in step. You will march in step won't you?

The only question I have at this point is; I wonder what color our arm-bands will be...and hopefully there will be a little pocket in them for our national I.D. cards. Of course some of us may opt to have RF chips implanted rather than carry those pesky little ID cards. (See, it starts with those cute little American Flags on our lapels and grows very slowly from there...) They'll probably be red, white, and blue I guess huh?

But at least we will be safe...

PS - This email was (without my permission) run through the super computers at the National Security Agency (NSA and DARPA) using a spy software program called "Echelon". “Echelon” is truly robust and monstrous. It reads ALL our emails AND records ALL our phone conversations, looking for "buzz words" containing terrorist, dangerous, and/or otherwise unpatriotic comments. I just thought you might like to know that “THEY” are doing that... Sleep well... We are all safe... Very very safe...

"The Surge Is Working" SO WHAT?

Notwithstanding the female suicide bombers who killed 40 and injured over 100 people in Iraq this morning, what exactly do campaigning candidates mean when they say “the surge is working”?

For the sake of analysis, if we agree that the surge is reducing violence in certain areas, then what? What this means to me is that as long, and ONLY as long, as we continue to maintain massive troop levels in those areas we will have some, if only limited success.

So then what?

Doesn’t this mean that we will have to police those areas into perpetuity? Well yea! So what happens if we stop? Well the Iranians have a powerful high tech Russian equipped military and as far as I can see, Maliki and the Iraqi government is more sympathetic to them than to us.

The theory goes, “we are training the Iraqi military to defend themselves” but from who? By our own State Department numbers there are fewer than two thousand foreign fighters in a country of twenty six million people so surely they can defend themselves against foreign fighters now. So will they defend themselves against Iran with whom they share a common religion?

80% of Iraqis are Shia and Iran is Shia. Although the Sunni represented a mere 20% minority, under Saddam they were able through treachery and tyranny to subjugate the much larger Shia majority who now are liberated, in power with a pretty bad taste in their mouths and appear to prefer the Iranians to the US. Pursuant to 35 years of murder and abuse, much of which the US was complicit with, this is not likely to change any time soon. (Remember it was the Sunni under Saddam that we armed to fight Iran)

Even if the Iraqis demonstrated a desire to defend themselves against Iran, are we prepared to give the Iraqis who appear more sympathetic to the Iranians our most sophisticated weaponry in order to do it? If not, how do we EVER leave?

While Bush secretly slipped in and out of Baghdad under the cover of night surrounded by troops, Achmadinejad was greeted in Baghdad as if he were Elvis Presley.

What exactly IS victory in what was never a war with the Iraqi people in the first place? Of course if we commit a huge portion of our military to a relatively small country it's going to have SOME impact on sectarian violence but if we have to do it forever, is this anyone's definition of "victory"? The “surge” is no end game and thus has changed nothing in regard to our ultimate position. Maybe THAT is why some politicians voted against it?

When I hear "the surge is working" I just laugh at the wit and wisdom of those who can not see past the ends of their noses. . If "the surge is working" in any meaningful way that can be considered in the long term, I will kiss your *** in Macy's window on Easter Sunday morning.

I say “Ok, the surge is working” SO WHAT?

Handy Tip for the New Year

I didn't get Christmas cards out this year so in lieu of them, I will share valuable information so that everyone can hear from me pursuant to the holidays. Here goes and a Happy New Year!

Barak Obama is not a Muslim and did not, and does not plan to, "swear an oath of office on The Koran".

Ollie North did not warn us about Osama Bin Ladin, or even mention his name at the Iran Contra hearings, nor was he ever questioned by Al Gore, nor did Bill Clinton cut a deal to release Mohammed Attah with the Israelis.

The Democratic Senators named in that familiar e mail who are purported to have "voted against English as the official language" voted yes for English to be declared "the common and unifying language" of the United States and for it's use to be encouraged.

There IS NO "beta test" and NOBODY, not Bill Gates, AOL, Intel or anyone else, is going to give you or me free money for forwarding an e mail.

The little girl with the red hair and freckles is not "missing" and she never was. If there are any kids who are missing, sick, dying of cancer or anything else you are unlikely to learn about them in an e mail from strangers so please don't forward it.

There is no such thing as Senate Bill 602P: U.S. Postal Tax on Email. Don't bother writing your congressman.

There are always computer viruses circulating so please don't warn me about them, just keep your anti virus updated and I will do the same.

The ACLU has not gone before the Supreme Court, or any other court, to prevent Marines from "bowing their heads in prayer" to "remove crosses from cemeteries" or to create a holiday during the Christmas season for Atheists. You can relax now!

The University of Kentucky has not banned Holocaust studies and has no such intention.

The humongous blonde chick is not really that big and neither is the Grizzly Bear, The Hog, the Cat, the gigantic Dog named Hercules or anything else you received that looked too big to be real.

Nobody cares if "Patrick Henry thought this should be "a Christian Nation". Patrick Henry opposed the ratification of the Constitution and was voted down. The USA is not, and has never been "A Christian Nation".

Facebook is not overpopulated and there are no man eating cat fish.

Independence for Sale?

Every Fourth of July, there is a Realtor in my neighborhood who insists on placing those little American flags in front of houses with a very large business card attached, in what I consider to be a cheesy display of salesmanship.

Section 8176 I of the Flag Code of the United States states the following:

(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

I guess he is lucky that the amendment to criminalize the desecration of the flag was not passed, as he never collects them afterwards and thus they are run over by cars, hosed into the gutter by gardeners and end up lying in the mud. I guess you'd call that desecration.

While I abhor desecration of the flag, I do believe that criminalizing the act would desecrate the Constitution and like the golden calf in the Old Testament, makes the flag into an object of idolatry, rather than one of reverence.

Were it not for the fact that I am socially liberal, and fiscally conservative, I would apply as a consultant for the GOP and could get their inane and childish amendment passed in a heartbeat.

I would simply combine the surgeon general's report regarding second-hand smoke into the flag-burning legislation itself and promote it on the grounds that the second-hand smoke from all those burning flags contributes to global warming and surely this would generate bipartisan support.

The flag burning initiative is one of the all time political red herrings. It is the politician's version of saying "hey! look over there"! ... and then when you look away, grabbing the food off your plate.

I see no evidence what so ever that our current Congress and/or Senate posess the wisdom of our founding fathers and as such I would prefer that they leave our constitution alone. On the other hand, this Realtor who has no shame about placing an exageratedly large business card on his promotional American Flags as if they were note pads or refrigerator magnets might do well to view the flag draped over the coffins of those returning from foreign wars.

As there is little question that our nation is being run by idiots, I will simplify my expectations and just hope that Realtors read this entry, show a little respect, and picks up their flags when the Fourth of July is over.

So California has a monopoly on eccentricity? I don't think so.

Congratulations goes out to West Virginia's psychological community on this latest revelation. You are succeeding in raising a polarized generation in which there will be two camps, rebellious hoodlums and basket cases.

In addition to the egregious offenses of "possessing aspirin", possession of "squirt guns", and the dreaded "thinking you out scored the other team in baseball", .... NOW, "shaking hands", "patting on the back", "giving another student a high five", or worst of all, the lurid and lascivious act of "holding hands" and/or any other form of salutation or affection in which your skin comes into contact with the skin of another, brings swift retribution West Virginia public school style.

And what is the punishment for the heinous crime of "touching" you ask? Well of course, immediate detention and thus, the forfeiture of education. Such a penalty will surely serve society well, won't it?

In an era when our public schools are turning out dysfunctional dunderheads who are more akin to "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" then Bill Gates or Teddy Roosevelt, surely, "detention" will benefit an already de-evolving student body.

This is reminiscent and the living embodiment of the old joke about the couple who were inhibited so the shrink told them they required to approach love with more spontaneity. At the next visit to his office he asked "how did it go" and the husband answered "over dinner, we both reached for the salt shaker at the same time and when our hands touched, it was magic, ... "I threw her across the table and we made mad love". The shrink replies "that's great" and the husband says "the only drawback is we can never go back to our favorite restaurant".

As a young man, I thought my first intimate encounter with the opposite sex came and went just a little faster than it should have.

After a life time of total tactile depravation, when these kids grow up and get married, they may not be able to reproduce.

As I see it, the lesson here is two fold.

1) An idiot with a PHD is just an idiot.

2) Young parents in West Virginia seeking a real education for their children might do better to send them to East Virginia!

Can't somebody find Jimmy Carter a rest home?

Carter's latest headline pontifications are to admonish America for it's lack of empathy for that warm and fuzzy social club, known as Hamas, the US opting to support Fatah, who we gratuitously call moderate because they give lip service to not wanting to kill every Jew in sight. Like those who say "Mussolini made the trains run on time" and "Hitler was very good to his mother", the radical left still claim that "Hamas does good things" and speak about them as if they are the Rotary Club, or the Optimists.

I'm not sure if the press reports Carter's ravings anymore so much because he is a former president, as because they can't believe what comes out of his mouth, and thus it plays to the reader like the press's equivalency of a freak side show.

Maybe he asks himself "what would Jesus do?" but given that Jesus was probably the only Jew who ever occupied the unholyland who seemed satisfied with the option of dying, the man is a fool and a "would be humanitarian" who knows nothing about human beings. He is a smoother David Duke, who like Carter, wraps himself in a cloak of alleged Christianity and from his "wolf in sheep's clothing suit" spews hatred for the Jewish homeland.

I too have problems with the idea of ANY homeland predicated on an ethnicity, however Carter appears to have no qualms when a murderer in a Kaffiya calls the entire Middle East "Moslem Land" or the slightest cognoscence of the mitigating circumstances that caused those living in the Jewish homeland to be first, expelled from Arab homelands in which they had co-existed for thousands of years and then joined by their fellows who were driven there from every corner of the globe, making them, the only true refugees in the Middle East.

One can only wonder if Carter had been born earlier would he have thought that WW2 was merely a diplomatic failure or that those who did not reason with Hitler were "impatient" and "intolerant"?

I'm not crazy about our current president either, but I do not express it by celebrating Ted Bundy's birthday.
