Lori, to the best of my knowledge, only those who live within the limits of the City of Tehachapi, are eligible to vote on any City matter(s). Outside of the City limits,for the geographic locations you listed, are governed by the Kern County Board of Supervisors located in Bakersfield.

That being said, you can always voice any concerns to the City Council and should attend ALL City Council meetings (the public attendance is pitiful) because any decision made by the City Council ultimately affects EVERYONE in the greater Tehachapi area.

It seems to me if you get to write Tehachapi, CA on your mailing address you should be allowed to vote! ;) Otherwise the outlying areas should have their own zip codes! hehe

THX Jim. That's what I thought.

Would like to get a grass roots movement going on the Wal-Mart issue. Try and get the Tehachapi officials to lobby for a design that looks good. Has been done in Mississippi. Great article in the "New Urban News" regarding a design with parking lot in the rear, two story with offices, or even apartments, on the second floor. Green areas surrounding .... If we are gonna get a Wal-Mart, could we maybe have it look decent?

Any thoughts?

Try contacting Tehachapi City Hall. Someone there made Home Depot spruce up their typical exterior when they came into town. Even if Walmart does make it prettier it will still be owned by the company that does not pay enough or give fringe benefits comparable to other retailers. The same company that continuously flexes it hugh buying power so that suppliers take a beating. Walmart does pass on a fraction of those saving to the customer.

Did you know that Tehachapi City had Home Depot change it's look for Tehachapi? Well they did! Can't you tell? I know I can't. It will be the same for Wal-mart they will paint a few extra stripes down the side and call it good. I hate to see what Home Depot would have looked like without the City improved changes.....................
