Lastnite when I went out to smoke I saw this man that I know and he said Hi and went inside. I have been thinking alot about this man and he matches Gube alot.. I know this man has a combined family and one of his son's is special needs. The only thing that makes me think it is not Gube is that this man works and doesn't have the time on his hands like Gube. I will see this man this morning and I am going to ask him a few questions... But I bet Gube was there and just didn't show himself....

I had a greast time. It was nice to meet everyone and put faces to names. It was also the first time I had been to Mama HIlly Beans on open mic night. Tehachapi has some very talented individuals. I hope they do start a debate night, it will be a fun time.

I wasn't going to mention this.. lol But since we are talking about the mystery blogger who posted an article about the behavior of our local police...I'm just gonna spit it out.

Last night when I left Hilly Beans I was stopped for speeding. The officer asked me if I had been drinking, I said "No, I just came from Mama Hilly Beans and I had too much caffeine is all. He said the speed limit on this road is 55 mph. "I said " REALLY?!!!!" I thought the speed limit was 65 mph. He was extremely nice and noticed that I was simply nervous, not drunk when I gave him a 20 dollar bill instead of my drivers license that he asked for. LMFAO He said "I'm not taking 20's today". After looking into my eyes a couple times and informing me of a few local laws he realized that I really wasn't drunk. He, said didn't you see me. I said no, if I had I would have slowed down to 65mph,.which is still speeding on this road. lol I was so stupidly honest, and nervous that he had to laugh and after he did a check on me and my vehicle, he let me go with a warning. He said. "Now SLOW DOWN". So, I started my truck and accidentally spun out as I left because the wheels were in the dirt... I know this poor man was shaking his head, telling himself... I hope I don't ever have to stop that crazy lady again. lol

I want to thank that officer for being so understanding and kind to me. I have never been stopped by the police here before and I didn't know what to expect after hearing on this blog that they are a bit agressive. I feel much better about the police in Tehachapi today.

I learned about our local police and I now know the speed limit on that road.....all in all a good thing.

Sparks, good thing the cop didn't realize what "group" you just came from. You would still probably be in jail...=) With all the post about cops on here and all. I have a funny cop story (actually a few, but here's just one).

I was about 9 months prego with my first son and going back down the hill to Bakes. I peed right before I got in the car. I'm driving along and here comes the urge. I had already passed any off ramps (because I would had pulled over on the side of the road and did my thing if needed...no shame when I am prego). Anyhow, I can't remember the exit now but it's the first one right when you get into Bakes (I think Weedpactch), there is a gas station and taco bell to the left and a Chevron, a restaurant, and I think a burger joint on the right. This is heading north on 58. Well about 5 miles until the exit it was excruciating. So I started to speed like a mad women. I got off, stopped, and when I was about to make a left turn to go the the gas station I looked in my rear view mirror and saw lights coming off the ramp behind me. I kept going, pulled in, the cop was pulling in the parking lot. I got out doing the pee pee dance, made eye contact with the cop, pointed to my belly, and showed that I was putting my keys, and my license on the top of my car and ran in the restroom. When I got out I was tearing up apologizing to him. He let me go because I think he thought I was going to go into labor right there. But he warned me not to do it again and said I'll try. Now, I know that was stupid, in the cops mind I could have had drugs or anything on me and flushed them. He was cool.

Funny stuff Sparks about spinning your tires when you left, did you expect to get pulled over again...lol.

Lori the road that goes by Leigh's Cement... the road to Sand Canyon I guess I was going around 65 mph, that is how fast I always take that road. I was so nervous I forgot to ask the officer how fast I was going. Well for now on I will be going 55 mph. lol

Sparks you probably got pulled over by Kern County Sheriffs Dept. They are not afraid to do a traffic stop by themselves whereas it takes several Tehachapi officers to do the same thing. I guess they feel there is safety in numbers.

It was nice to meet Job. Tehachapi does not hold the best of memories for him and it was great to meet him in person. And no, we liberals did not rip his limbs off one by one! We all got along well and it was a good time.

Well, being among the Hillybeans semi-regular ultra-liberal Poets who had their minds in the gutter last night (truth be told, I was probably THE poet flustering Hostess Holly the mostest last night - but SHE said she was going to nail people!!! not me!!!!). But, alas, eekitsaspider I am not your beloved Gube. I am but your humble chauffeur...

But, good bloggers, WELCOME!!! My god it was so freaking cool (that doesn't violate any kind of blogger code does it?) to see the place packed last night. Hillary and Cameron had a vision for Mama Hillybeans and that was to make the coffee shop a safe haven for young progressive people of Tehachapi to be able to come and express their talents, opinions and minds with other like minded people. It is fashioned after the old coffee houses of San Francisco.

What Hilllybeans has grown into is so much more. There is Open Mic, Acoustic Jam, Poetry Nights, Concerts, et cetera. There is no other place like it in Tehachapi. There was other place before for people to gather and share. Young and old gather. Democrats and Republicans. Liberals and Conservatives. Priests and Poets. Teachers and students. We try to make it a safe place and only occasionally does evil infiltrate.

Sparks, I enjoyed your energy as what I perceived as Ad Hoc leader of your group.

The man you saw last night, Burt, with his daughter singing is a staple of our Hillybeans. We thought we might have lost him recently. That was the first time I have seen him since his surgery. When I think of Burt and think of Hilary and Cameron and Anthony and Mike and all the people at Hillybeans, I think of the word Community. I think of what a community like Tehachapi should be. What Tehachapi used to be.

I want to thank the lady who shared her daughter's essay last night from the Bloggers. I hope more of you "come out" and share more. Expose yourself. Shed your anonymity. Bare your soul. It is a safe haven for you too, at Hillys. There is always a warm cup of coffee, a warm heart. And if needed, a warm hug.

... and, I like spiders.

Anyhoo, I am so bummed that I missed the party, it sounds like it was a blast. If I need to ask for extra meds and a chauffer, I swear I'll make the next gig. And poetry...Be still my heart! I knew Mama Hilly's was a special place, but I've never been there at night. In fact, I rarely get out at night anymore, but all that's gotta change. If you missed it, you missed a great over the top performance of this young man as Pirelli. Just another example of the telent in this community.

Eeeewww is right! In my younger days I nearly assfixyated (spelling?), ummm...choked myself to death trying to hairspray to death a very large "attack spider" into submission (spidercide) inside a very small, nearly windowless garage apt. My biggest problem was that later I couldn't bring myself to dispose of the crumpley-legged, twised, hideous body after the fog had finally lifted. That's what Tupperware and landlords are for! Now I'm brave enough to wham 'em real good with a big shoe if I absolutely have to. My kids think I'm a hero. But the dead bodies still creep me out. Most times I use the central vacuum to suck 'em up. I'm glad it's a really big cannister and my husband empties it because of my cough,cough "terrible allergies."

Earlier this week I had to shoot at a fairly good size rattler that was repeatedly striking at my dog. I am soooo not a gun person, but I thought he had been bitten and I have small kids to worry about. But the big dumb hound was having a blast playing tag with the rascally rattler. I turned the hose on the dog to get him to leave it alone, and he had a big glob of white milky stuff dripping down under his eye. But he was just fine, no bite, and very revved up. (Doh! Lets play, let's play some more!)

Eleven rounds and I still missed the evil, slithering, reptilian creature, and by the time I stopped shaking and my ears stopped ringing, I didn't see where the blasted thing went. Later, I saw a King Snake that looked suspiciously fat, so I think he at least had a nice meal, even though it made me queasy to comtemplate that whole "circle of life" kinda thing. Then my doofy dog ended up injuring the King in a rugged game of "shake toss the snakey" before I turned the hose on him again. Makes me thankful to be at the top of the food chain.

I can't believe all you murderers! lol...I kill nothing, well that's not quite true, I had to cornmeal an ant hill that was in the dog run, my Chi is allergic to ant venom. $150.00 later that's what I found out. These are those huge red ones, I felt bad, but I love my doggie more. I carry spiders outside, I just leave the snakes alone, they usually go on their way. If it's a BIG one, I call our resident snake guy and he comes and takes them away. Oh, and I swat the occasional pain-in-th-arse fly.

If it makes you feel any better Joty, I always feel really bad about smashing the revolting little 8-legged critters. When I was little, my mom's #2 husband (3rd time's a charm) used to torment me by scratching outside my bedroom window after making me watch the Fright Night movies with giant spider and ants destroying the world. There's just not a big enough can of BugwhoopA$$ marked today, IMO. As for feeling bad about killing snakes...not so much. Like I said, I've got little ones to worry about and the evil slithery ones always seem to show up right in our highest traffic areas, just after I've spent hours squatting in that particular area planting my pretty flowers. It's survival of the biggest baby. Or at least the species with opposable thumbs and access to the appropriate weaponry. Other than that, I'm basically a "live and let live" kinda gal. So if someone's into "Sharin' Sharon" - or NOT - whatever floats your boat is OK by me, but I might decide to stay ashore, or maybe just watch from the nekkid beach...( Still LMAO...Tee hee...Gube rhymes with Boob! ; )

OMG Sushi, Doctor Demento.....wow what a flashback!!! I remember hiding under the blankets with my brother listening to him on one of those little hand radios. We were suppose to be asleep. There were a couple of times my mom or dad would come up and always knew something was up ( we were pretend we were sleeping). I always thought they had some magically way of knowing we were up to something. I laugh now because there is no way my bro and I would sleep in the same bed unless we were up to something. Oh how kids think their parents are so dumb..lol.

That was Donald. He has been a Doctor here in Tehachapi for some time. He has taken a career move and is headed to El Paso on the 12th. We didn't meet at Hillybeans the other night. I was sorta jammed in behind the "Donald" table by the "Erotic Poet" table - I was the guy in the Iron Maiden shirt. I will be there this Wednesday tho - cya there? The shirts at Hilly's are great!

Well, I did it again. Went to Mama HillyBeans at 7:30, ate dinner and read the paper till the fireworks started. Gosh, 3 nights in a row I went out! Mama's seems like an OK place to go--I'm not much of a drinker and bars are not for me, esp by myself. Think I'll go on Weds if I can get off work. The kids will be shocked when they get home!

I think Awsmom said she was going to be at Hilly's on Wednesday as well.. Hilly's grew on me quick, I go there during the day to play on my puter now and again. I in visioned Wednesdays as loud karaoke night, It was as pleasant surprise to find it was open mic night for poets and musicians...very cool.

Me shy? That's rich... LOL I like to view Open Mic Night as sort of a Performance Piece so I try to be respectful and not talk. I was more "boxed in" last Wednesday. I may bring a few pieces in to read. A lot of my stuff of late has taken on an angry tone sort of a "One step closer to the edge" tone. I dont want to come across as angry to the masses. I have a lot of stuff, tho.

Ya think Romantic poet? LOL just kidding... I don't know how I do it, and at one point I thought I had to it by myself and that scared the living daylites out of me, because I don't think I could of done this all alone. But I have changed myself with what happened and I have changed alot with what I do with the kid's and I no longer feel that I cannot do it myself, I know I can... I have had alot to deal with the past 10 months, more than most people have to deal with in a lifetime but I am STRONG and getting through it all one day at a time.

Oh man, sounds like I missed a good time while I was out of town. I'd love to make the next one, especially if it's at Mama Hillybeans. It's one of the few place I can bring my rambuctious toddler without getting sneered at, and having moved here from SF, it feels like "home."
