Tehachapi HIGH-Altitude Windpower - Tehachapi High WindFarms - Vincente's Blog - Tehachapi News

We are involved in Energy REsearch, to engage the talents of local students, who can learn about energy savings...we ask: Why are we paying for electricity when we are surrounded by wind farms?? Why does not our school district offer energy education to our students? They are spending tens of thousands each month on electricity, rather than learn and teach students how to produce their own power...our schools, hospitals, and churches pay huge sums of money, that could be used for education, while ignoring the realities and benefits of alternatives in energy production....

Maybe the ability of schools/educators to learn and teach about energy production shows how well they are preparing our students for a future that promises new directions in every field on human endeavor. Let us know what you think about this subject. We hope you enjoy our growing collection of energy-related videos....

What a great idea. It seems like most schools have programs the relate to the area they are in like agriculture, construction, etc. That would be a great program to teach kids about a local program. It just seems like so many schools now days have gotten rid of their vocational programs, many schools have gotten rid of auto shop, welding and wood shop, it is a shame there is just as much a need for people working in those feilds as there were in the past when schools had those programs. Does tehachapi high have an auto shop program? Anyways you have a great idea, it would be nice if the school district would research it.

With as much talk that has surrounded the environment lately, I have been wondering when the citizens of our community would truly begin to realize the gem we are surrounded by. Wind energy is a clean and very efficient source of power. There is very little impact on the environment as wind energy is harnessed. It would also be great to maybe see some more electric powered vehicles used as city government vehicles, given the use of several wind turbines providing power at the waste water treatment facility. Tehachapi could truly set a wonderful example to the rest of the state and country on how a community can utilize the clean energy God has blessed us with and starting with it in the schools would be great.

Thanks for all the comments.

We are asking those who wish to push this forward, to create their own energy blogs. I posted all of my schools on myspace, which allowed me to link back to my former classmates. Then I decided to create a profile and energy blog on all of the local newspaper/blogs in the towns where I went to school. All of the responses have been very supportive...the local blogs have been more effective than the big, global sites. Those who respond on the global sites have been local people!!
