As most everyone knows, I work at the hospital and I'm very proud of the staff I work with.  I look forward to the growth and the promise that a new hospital will bring.  If anyone is looking for perfection......I'm not sure of what direction to point you in. Our numbers at the hospital are getting larger and larger.  It has become quite a busy place.  It's hard to staff accordingly.  Some days you can get right in, other times there will be a 5 - 6 hour wait.  There is a reason for it.  Trust me.  Please know this, when you come into the hospital, we will sign you in and I guarantee, the longest you will wait is 15 to 20 minutes to see a triage nurse. (and that is rare).  At that time you can ask her/him questions and make your decision whether or not you'd like to wait it out.  The admitting staff is excellent in keeping you informed as much as possible.  There are laws we have to abide by for HIPPA and Privacy issues.  So I hope that is understood. I was in the ER very recently and it was very crowded, so we weren't surprised that we waited about 5 hours.  Normally it is very quick, but there were so many people and we weren't very high in priority with triage.  We had tried to see our regular doctor earlier but they refused to see us... not the first time we weren't able to see our doctor and ended up in the ER (we're probably switching doctors now- not making room when my son had an ear infection a month ago was no good).  Once we were seen at the hospital, the doctor and nurses were wonderful.  I've never had any complaints about them.  This was the third time we had seen Dr. Barozzo and we've always received excellent care.  The doctor that saw my son about a month ago was wonderful too- I wish I could remember his name. I waited maybe 15 minutes before being taken back, the test was done, I was on my way. Small, yes. Clean, very. The lady who took care of my paperwork was attentive, polite and knew what she was doing. As far as 'administrators' running the joint - would you put a banker in charge of a construction job? A contractor in charge of a school? I want doctors running the joint! And some doctors prefer the ER over private practice, that's all. I know I would. Negligent? How about the doctor in a big city hospital - one of the Seventh Day Adventist facilities -who diagnosed my daughter's pneumonia as WORMS? That's one bill that never got paid! His name was Dr. Rose and he was a blooming idiot! Olivia - I agree with you that TH has an excellent front office staff. They are always polite and try to keep everyone updated about the wait, etc. I would definitely not want their job, to have to be yelled at & take the blame for things that are beyond their control. I also agree with you about Dr. Barrozo. Having worked with him for many years, I know that he is a very nice man who I would choose to be my emergency doctor because I know that he will do a complete job.  Olivia, can you send me a message? I have something to tell you but can't click on your name anymore. There are excellent nurses, doctors, and other staff at TH. They are caring, patient, knowledgable, and polite. There are also several doctors, nurses, and other staff that are rude, and act as though you are bothering them by making them do their job. I am sure that anyone who has been to TH has dealt with both. I can say that I personally have seen both. In my person life I have always received excellent care for myself & my family members with exception of one time. Of course, I was an employee of the hospital at the time and know that knowing the staff can make a difference. However, in my experience working there I have also seen some horrible things happen to patients & their families. Unfortunately, it is all the luck of the draw. If you are lucky enough to have your emergency on a day that good staff are working then you will receive excellent care. If you go on another day, you will be treated by staff as though they just want to get rid of you. This isn't something that is unique to TH, you will encounter it no matter what hospital you go to. His words were "" I do not care if I am having a major heart attack I'll never go to tehachapi hospital I will go to Bakersfield first'''''. Well my friend had chest pains the other day and well, It must of got a little cold under his feet because he made the wise decision and went to tehachapi hospital.  You can bet when I went to see him in the hospital up here I could not help but give him a hard time. Luckily for my friend it was not too serious and he was released the next day. My friend had good things to say and did not regret his decision to be seen at our hospital.
