Veteran's Day Event in Tehachapi

Here is a press release from CIvil Air Patrol Squadron 46 in Tehachapi:

In honor of Veteran's Day, the Squadron is also hosting a welcome
to any Veteran on their meeting night Wednesday Nov 12. Cadets
will be sharing poems, essays, drawings etc, Vet's are welcome to
share their stories as well if they would like to. Refreshments will
be served. Squadron 46 HQ is at North Hayes and East I, meeting
time from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
Civil Air Patrol is the official USAF Auxiliary. It's three main missions are Emergency Services, Aerospace Education
and Cadet Youth Programs. If you are interested in visiting please, for more information call 661-867-9934.

About Last Night......

Well I sure had a good time last night! It started with me meeting Joty at Books and Crannies and we went to the Book Club meeting. It started out rocky for me but soon I had fun discussing my old friends (books) that I have pretty much ignored the past several years. That is one friendship I need to reaquaint my self with. Thanks Joty for dragging me out of my coccon.

Then we drove over to Primo's where Gillfish, Madkow and Madkow's husband and cutie little boy joined us. Ruby1234 was there also and we drank a few beers (well some of us did!), then dinner and lots of laughter! It was fun. Maybe next time more of you will join us!

When a friend of mine tried to book their Christmas Party at Kelsy's she was told they were going to be open primarily on weekends due to decrease in business. From now on I'll eat in Tehachapi rather than waiting til we get to Bakersfield.

I am in a soul searching mood right now. What do you consider the most important things in life? Is it money? Family? The need to suceed? What would be your number 3 priorities in life right now?

Mine are: Family, Security/trust in fellow humans and satisfaction of leading a good life.

The 1930's and 1940's Tehachapi Floods

Here is a quote from the TN article " Depot fire defendants 'held to answer":

The site now reveals strata that tell the history of the depot. At the lowest level are the bricks, then remnants of charred wood from the first depot fire in 1904, then a black layer of soil that accumulated during the flood decades of the 1930s and 1940s. On top of that layer is three feet of fill that was placed on the site to hold the depot when it was raised off the ground to get above the floodwaters. The fill made the land higher than the surrounding streets.

Anyone know the history of the Tehachapi Floods from the '30's and 40's?

It's Time for Another Favorites Blog!

OK! It's time for another favorites blog as well a a kick off to Mato pending, long anticipated FOOD CLUB, hopefully starting this fall!

I too have been trying to eat a little healthier since reffup posted his blog and weight loss and being healthy, so I am revamping my culinary techniques (what little I have!). Here is my new, somewhat healthy, favorite recipe. Add yours to it--it doesn't need to be healthy--just a favorite. And for those of you that are cooking disadvantanged, post a favorite food buy.

Easy Rotisserie Chicken Salad

Fry up 4 pieces bacon til brown then remove from skillet. Discard all but 1 tablespoon drippings, and add 2 tablespoons cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt and pepper to the skillet with the drippings. Using a whisk, heat to boiling. then remove from heat and cool slightly. Toss this mixture with 2 cups of deboned, shredded Rostisserie Chicken, the add to a bed of Romaine, tossing again. Sprinkle crumbled bacon pieces on top. Serve immediatly. Other items can be added to taste: olives, bell pepper, scallions, cherry tomatoes, etc.

One of my new favorite food items is Inn Keepers Bed & Breakfast 8 Grain Bread from Costco. It comes in a mega 3 lb loaf and doesn't contain any high fructose corn syrup, is 98% fat free and contains 22% RDA for fiber with 2 slices.

Kern County has became a Haven for Animal Hoarders!

Here is an article from the Bakersfield Californian. Other counties take action against hoarders but it seems Kern County has thrown out the welcome mat!

Does our Animal Control Division Chief side with hoarders???? Why is it ok to have over 250 dogs in cages that live in a house with no conditional use permit to have a kennel?

And didn't they give this woman in Mojave 10 days notice to clean up before an Animal Control inspection? Did they give the woman in Cummings Valley 10 days notice to clean up? Kimi Peck gets 10 days notice before an Animal Control inspection.

According to the link above, San Berninadino "quickly" cited this woman for illegal zoning violation when she moved there. So she moved to LA County where Animal Control seized her dogs. SO SHE MOVED BACK TO KERN COUNTY!

Why hasn't Kern County quickly cited Kimi Peck for zoning violations??? Click on the Kern County Code enforcement and they have no less than 26 entries for Kimi's property.

Happy Birthday Gube!

Well, it has been almost 1 year since the mystery person, Gube, has started to blog. He has had an astonishing over 23,000 blog views and over 2200 profile looks, all of us trying to figure out who this man is and what makes this man who he is.

Gube has irritated, infuriated, bored us, outraged us, agreed and disagreed with us, crossed over the line, and has been a general pain in the azz. He has no idea what political correctness is. But he is free to be who is he is, without worrying or being concerned as to whose toes he has just stepped on or what other people think. I feel Gube is the essence of free speech, something this country is based on.

I HEARD THE ANGELS SING TODAY!

Yes, the Angels sang at my house today. As much as I love my kids, I enjoyed 8 hours of..........nothing! My kids both went back to school. My daughter, who had been homeschooled, had her first day of 7th grade at JMS and my son had his first day of 9th at THS.

Anyone else as happy as I am?
