Iraqi soldiers get 4 months a year off - - bigdog's Blog - Tehachapi News

I was listening to N P R news today and i heard something that kinda pissed me off. Did you know that Iraqi soldiers work or patrol for 2 weeks and then they have a week off. Giving them 4 months a year off.. The report said that they have been doing this since before their war with Iran. American soldiers get 2 weeks off a year. Is this true, has anyone Else heard of this. 2 weeks vs 4 months. If this is true it is one more reason why we need to get out of Iraq. Iraq needs to steep up and defend their country. Why are we putting our young men and women at risk when Iraq is giving their soldiers time off. Anyway i would like to hear you thoughts on this.

I agree that Iraq needs to get itself together if they want to move on to better things. I don't get the sense that they're working very hard to rule themselves- just getting caught up in petty disagreements. Why should we sacrifice for them when they don't seem willing to help themselves?

I wish our soldiers could get 4 months off a year. If anyone deserves it, they certainly do. And it would probably help them with their job- stress doesn't make anyone feel good at work. And the soldiers would have better physical and mental health.

My son...

LEAVE SOLDIERS

My son Mathew was also recent y deployed 12/2007 to Iraq to FOB, Rustamiya southeast part of Baghdad. He called and also informed us he will ONLY GET ONE LEAVE FOR 18 DAYS HALF WAY THROUGH HIS 15 MONTH DEPLOYMENT. His leave will be in August sometime. He was in Afghanistan 2006-2007 and did receive that year two 15 day leaves.

rstott - Is your husband in the 10TH Mountain Division, 4th Brigade, 2-30 INF, Unit 41542. That is my son's unit. My son in law Fortune , a Tehachapi High graduate and now a US Marine also deployed this week 1/13/2008, to Iraq, in the north east portion of Baghdad. I found some cool websites that will send these guys free stuff. It's nothing really big but it is support. We pray for our son and others daily and I will remember your husband in prayer. If you want info on websites let us know.
