Hey Kids!

Sort of missed all you guys & gals...

I wanted to give an update.

Bert is back in Tehachapi and is back on track with his recovery. Here is a little something he wrote for the blog and his friends in town...

I would like to express my "HEART" felt gratitude to everyone who has been so supportive to me and my family during this ordeal. It was especially gratifying to receive a visit from Jeff, the officer from my TPD event. I know how difficult it is to go back and make amends and I appreciate his bravery and humanity in coming of his own accord to see me. My hope is that somehow TPD and the community can develop a meaningful dialog that will benefit our wonderful town.

WHY ARE THE TEHACHAPI POLICE TERRORIZING OUR TOWN?

OUR GOOD FRIEND BERT BOCKOVER COLLAPSED FROM CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AT HIS HOME HERE IN TEHACHAPI. DUE TO THE RAPID RESPONSE OF OUR LOCAL AMBULANCE, HE WAS TAKEN TO TEHACHAPI HOSPITAL WHERE HE RECEIVED GOOD CARE. LATER HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE HEART HOSPITAL IN BAKERSFIELD AND THEN MOVED TO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE HAD A QUADRUPLE BYPASS. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER AND WORKING TO HELP ONE OF IT'S OWN. SOMETHING WE DO HERE IN TEHACHAPI. BERT RETURNED TO TOWN TO RECOVER.

BERT, APRIL AND THEIR 9 KIDS ARE WELL KNOWN AND VALUED MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY. A LOT OF FOLKS HAVE BEEN DOING WHAT THEY CAN TO HELP THEM THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME. IT'S REALLY DISTURBING TO ME TO SEE ALL THIS WORK UNDONE AND BERT'S RECOVERY SERIOUSLY DISRUPTED DUE TO IGNORANT MISTAKES AND OVERLY AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR ON BEHALF OF OUR POLICE DEPT.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE POLICE BOXED IN AND SWARMED BERT'S CAR WITH GUNS DRAWN, TERRORIZING BERT AND HIS SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW IN THE DRIVEWAY OF WALGREENS WHERE THEY WERE PICKING UP MEDICATION. BERT TOLD ME ONE OFFICER WAS SHAKING & SCREAMING AT HIM. HE WAS TREATED LIKE A VIOLENT CRIMINAL . HE ISN'T. HE IS OUR FRIEND. I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHAT PROTOCAL CALLS FOR THIS KIND POLICE BEHAVIOR. BERT DID NOTHING WRONG. WHY WAS HE TREATED TO SUCH HARSH TACTICS??

SOME OF US WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION FROM THE POLICE DEPT. AS TO WHY THEY FEEL IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO TREAT US THIS WAY. THIS IS A COMMUNITY NOT A PLAY GROUND FOR COWBOY COPS. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT OTHER INCIDENTS OF HARRASMENT TOWARDS OTHER INNOCENT MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY.

HOW ARE OTHER PEOPLE FEELING ABOUT THIS???

What Has Stan Beckham been Smoking??

Debbie Hand is one of our very best here in Tehachapi. She has a history of giving her best efforts to our community as a citizen, business owner as well as elected Representative. She is also, among many other things, a musician. I was glad when her response to hearing of Stan Beckham's lame attempt at character assassination, was "an amused smile". What an idiot!

Debbie Hand doesn't smoke pot, Stan! If you want to operate out of the Karl Rove political playbook at least get your lies to sound plausible! What a brainless, biased thing to say. I have played with many of Tehachapi's finest musicians... none of whom are brainless... including Debbie Hand.

I encourage them all to stand up and say something in response to his vile statement. It is time we all let our elected officails know if there behaviour or statements are unacceptable. Jeez, what if we had all done that on Iraq??? If you voted for him and know he is full of it on this one, say something...

I, for one, do not accept his continued denial of saying what he said. Be a big boy, tell the truth and 'fess up!.

We need to focusing on how to find and reach common ground in this Country to reject the politics of lies and slander that has gotten us to where we are today. The condescending and hostile attitude so aptly represented by Stan Beckham is one that needs to be seen for what it is, unacceptable political behavior.
