Favorite Childhood Books

My seven year old recently discovered the joys of reading. She has always loved to Look at books and have them read to her, but now she reads to herself and her baby sister. As a consequence to her new found love of books, we raided my childhood bedroom to find my old books. Among the books were my two favorite series. The Little House Books and Nancy Drew Mysteries kept me occupied for many years (I always re-read books I love so I read them over and over for years). She doesn't seem interested in either series too much. My instinct is to make her read them because I know she will love them (I know that isn't logical but that's me). I am fighting that instinct so I won't ruin her love of reading. I was wondering what my fellow bloggers like to read as a child. Any suggestions on what a seven year old (almost eight) would like?

The great parts of being a parent

One of the most rewarding and frustrating jobs a person can have is as a parent. I have two children and over the weekend my 15 month old made me glad to be a mom. She has been sick for nearly two weeks. She finally started feeling better over the weekend. So, I decided to let her participate in what she believes is the funnest thing on the planet. I gave her a bath. She was in a bedroom with her sister when I started the bath. She must have heard the water because I heard the biggest happiest squeal and a few seconds later she was crawling into the bathroom (she can walk she just crawls faster). I got her undressed and put her in the water. She kicked her little legs, beat the water with her little hands, and laughed to bring down the house. I couldn't help but laugh along with her. After I got her out I realized that I was just as wet (along with the bathroom) as she was. Giving my baby a bath is one of the greatest joys of my being a mom.

Do any of you parents out there have fun stories to share about your kids?
Pet Peeves

Driving in the fog today I came across my biggest driving pet peeve. I HATE when people drive in the fog without their lights on. I was driving east on Tehachapi Blvd about to make a left turn into the Taco Samich parking lot when a gray SUV without its lights on comes barreling down the street.. I thought I'd take out my road rage in a constructive blog instead of driving around town hunting down that SUV.
