I have to wonder about his children as well. This man is in his 40's, he didn't just all the sudden start raping defenseless women/children. I hope his children get the counseling they need. I for one am very glad the schools get involved with our children and promote telling someone at school if something bad is happening to them at home. This sickens me too Eek. We really need much tougher laws when it comes to demented people this. We really do, we should get a petition started.

Facts about Sex Offenders

Ninety percent of child victims know their offender, with almost half of the offenders being a family member. Of sexual assaults against people age 12 and up, approximately 80% of the victims know the offender.

In the majority of cases, abusers gain access to their victims through deception and enticement, seldom using force. Abuse typically occurs within a long-term, ongoing relationship between the offender and victim and escalates over time.

More than any physical injuries the victim sustains, the violation of trust that accompanies most sexual assaults has been shown to dramatically increase the level of trauma the victim suffers. Emotional and psychological injuries cause harm that can last much longer than physical wounds.

Children often do not tell for a variety of reasons including the offender's threats to hurt or kill someone the victim loves, as well as shame, embarrassment, wanting to protect the offender, feelings for the offender, fear of being held responsible or being punished, fear of being disbelieved, and fear of losing the offender who may be very important to the child or the child's family.

Studies suggest that most rape offenders are married or in consenting relationships.

It is common for victims of sexual assault to wait some time before telling someone. When the person was assaulted as a child, he or she may wait years or decades. The reasons for this are numerous: victims may want to deny the fact that someone they trusted could do this to them; they may want to just put it behind them; they may believe the myth that they caused the assault by their behavior; or they may fear how other people will react to the truth.

We should encourage our schools, churches and day care providers to discuss sexual abuse and encourage children to report any abuse that happens to them. We should also have much longer jail time for pedophiles, plus life time tracking devices.

I agree. Although the laws appear to be tough, how come these guys get out and keep preying on innocents? We had a local guy a few months back get arrested, get out, and do it again! It makes me sick! Now this latest sick puppy says he was becoming a Christian and fighting his demons? How about some personal responsibility? We all have our personal demons, but the difference is we don't act out on them and we take some responsibility for our own actions instead of blaming our demons as an excuse to commit inexcusable crimes against innocent people. Any thoughts on why we seem to have so many pedophiles up here? It seems like there is some sicko molesting somebody every time I open the newspaper.

Christine, pedophiles never get better. What scares me is these are men that have lived in Tehachapi for years and years!!! UGH. The truth is we need to keep them behind bars longer and use tracking devices... 3 lousy years is all they get Christine. Let me find an article I was just reading that shows tracking devices do work. I will be right back.

BAKERSFIELD - The popular Myspace.com website is at the center of a Sheriff’s investigation involving a paroled sex offender.

The 24-year-old, recently released from prison, returned to the small town where deputies said he committed the original crime.

Brandon Bigsby, now a Bakersfield resident and registered sex offender, violated his parole this week by returning to Taft and removing his GPS tracking device.

He was arrested Thursday at a Bakersfield library when investigators found him surfing the web.

For many, Myspace.com is simply an online community used to keep in touch with old friends and make new ones.

But sometimes the website is used for less innocent activities.

“He’s on Myspace for a reason and most likely, you can assume many things, but it’s a possibility there are other victims out there,” said Kern County Sheriff’s Dept. Sgt. Martin Downs.

Bigsby pleaded not guilty in 2003 to molesting a child under 14. Two other felony charges were dropped.

Bigsby’s Myspace website, under the email “Lilvampire420,” has one picture of him topless, with a caption reading “Rate me, girls,” and the frontpage quote said, “The beast.”

Bigsby was caught at the Beale Memorial Library on Truxtun Avenue using Internet access on Myspace.com. Beale Library is 45 miles from the Taft College Library where deputies found Bigsby’s GPS tracking device, which he is required to wear as a term of his parole.

As to how they found him without it? The answer is the Myspace website.

“The technology that they use to locate and recruit victims, very often we can use as well to locate them,” said Downs.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Bigsby to contact the Sheriff’s Department Taft substation at 763-8550

I don't know if Art falls into the category of Pedophile, Although he is in fact a sexual predator,and needs to seeks some mental help.

I think that t pedophiles really cant help themselves and should be institutionalized for life because if they aren't they will continue to prey on innocent children. The majority of pedophiles are straight, white ,men .

Most pedophiles seem to be very "nice" people. They are usually very friendly individuals and that is a part of the reason they are able to get close to a child. They are very helpful and many times not only to the child but to the parents as well. A pedophile is always in control of everything. With a teen they will let the teen know that they fully understand their feelings towards adults, and in particular, the teens parents. They will many times tell the teen how mature they feel he/she is and state that the parents should really treat them as such. This is flattering to many teens and the pedophile is fully aware of that. They also make the teen feel very needed and wanted.
One thing many people are not aware of is that the neighbor next door, who loves all the children and is the friendliest guy around, offering gifts to the kids and taking them different places while paying the way, is many times a pedophile.
The pedophiles that utilize the on-line services operate in the same manner. There have been reported incidents where a pedophile has befriended the parent of the child while on-line in order to gain access to the child.
It is important to know that it has been proven that a pedophile cannot be cured and many times will continue to molest children whether he is caught or not. Being imprisoned only slows them down for awhile. They have little or no remorse for their actions, only for being caught.
