Turn in illegals today I know a lot of people think all this is racist.  However, my mother, my brother-in-law, and my best man's wife are all LEGAL immigrants.  It took all of them an average of 10 years, a DECADE, to become legal citizens of the United States.  These are good, hard working, honest folks who did it the "right way" despite all the bureaucratic red tape required to do so (and let me tell you I could write a 10 page blog about the red tape alone).  So while people here on the blogs dismiss what Gube is saying, I have to side with him on this issue (and if you have read any of my previous posts you know I'm about as moderate as they come).  We need to crack down on the illegals.  Its an insult to not only to natural born civilians, its an even WORSE insult to those who did it the right way.  For anyone to even consider giving these illegals a free ride to natural citizenship just because they are already here is tantamount to being a traitor to your country and a HUGE slap in the face to the people who believe in the United States and what our country means.  I don't really have much more to add to this other than to say, there is no reason you can give me that will make me sympathetic to illegal aliens.  I watched my best friend, and best man at my wedding, be forced to live outside of his country, basically exiled, for 2 years to be with his wife because it took that long just to get a visa for his wife to move to this country doing it the "right way".  And these are people who are good friends with congressman and senators.  So tell me that the poor immigrants that do not have these kinds of connections have a chance?  This is a messed up situation and until they start doing the right thing and treating the illegals as illegals and treating the folks trying to do it the right way and not "short cut the system" as true immigrants and a benefit to society, as they are, we will be losing the America everyone purports to love.  My mother, who has been a legal citizen since 8 years old loves this country more than most people I've met that have been here their whole lives.  She knows on one finger more history of this country than people who have grown up here.  This is why I have a hard time respecting the viewpoint of anyone who even wants to compromise about the whole illegal situation.  Its a disgrace in my opinion.  And in my opinion anyone who is willing to give any ground on this issue is not worthy of calling themselves a United States citizen.
