Sounds crazy, but when I had an apartment in college that was infested with ants. Someone told me to put a cookie or cupcake out in the flowerbeds, and the ants would leave to eat it. Amazingly, it worked.

Jul 12, 2008 at 06:07 AM : Have you ever tried...

Have you ever tried Terro ant baits? The main ingredient in those is borax, along with some sugar substance that the ants just love. Since you've already tried Borax, maybe you wouldn't mind using something like this. It takes a little bit to kill them but they eat it and take it back to their nests and it wipes them out. I've been using it for years and it takes care of just about any ants I've ever had in places I don't want them.

Well...from what I have read over the years is that are 1000's of types of ants but basically they are either sugar eaters or meat eaters. Giving them cat food and borax just maybe the wrong attractant for them, you may have sugar eaters. Try mixing your borax with powered sugar, a 1:1 mix. If you use it indoors, put it on a small lid or plate (humidity from either the air itself or water coolers can cause it to melt down a bit and cause a sticky mess. Outside, make sure to replace often if you water around it or it rains (WE WISH!!).

Good luck!

My mom always recommends diatomaceous earth. I haven't tried it yet, but she uses it all the time. She says they also carry it back to their nest with them, which helps keep that population under control too.
