Yes, Joty. Thank you for you diligence. I always check these things out at both snopes.com as well as Truthorfiction.com and it is listed as a "Multiple" meaning ... Part Sun, Part Shade.

In any event, I will not buy gas at Citgo and I hope others avoid it as well. We can only do as much as we can.

ha ha like the good old US companies our treating us any better. I don't care where any oil company is from they all have our pants down around our ankles and are having there way with us. At this point Jimr i don't care where the gas comes from. I will buy gas at the cheapest place i can find and so will most people.

Jim, there have been several emails floating around about Citgo. One was a 'buycott' encouraging people to do support it; then a 'boycott' urging the opposite. That's why snopes listed the status as 'multiple'.

I don't think you read all the way through the snopes site. Towards the end it stated that Petro Express is a chain of privately owned convenience stores based in North Carolina. It is not and never has been owned by Chavez or the gov of Venezula. They used to sell Citco gas, but phased it out. They no longer sell it.

Europeans have been paying almost $6.00 a gallon for several years - my brother lives in Germany. Americans boo hoo and throw a fit cuz our prices are at $3.00. For the record, they don't drive big SUV's, RV's or pickups over there either. As a nation we are far too dependent on cars, and therefore big oil companies do have us by the proverbial short hairs...

Joty - well put. AMERICAN oil companies are making enormous profits at the expense of our pocket books. They couldn't care less that mom and pop are on fixed incomes. Chavez will pass into history as a little wack job ..... but Chevron will book enormous profits and pay their executives million dollar bonuses. I have stated before that we still see a single driver going down the freeway and the Mom and Pop Kettle's driving their Winnebago's to visit aunt Minnie in Jacksonvilee (from Los Angles) and they don't give a damn about the price of gas...as long as they can do what they want.

It's a great pity that we have come to this kind of life thought. It's ALL ABOUT US! And screw everyone else because they don't matter!

What choice do we have? I don't see the American people having any choice as to how much gas will cost.
We can go to the cheapest place around...we can buy the newest economical vehicle(if we can afford it)
but the bottom line is: we have no control over how hard these petroleum companies gouge us.
We're at war, foreclosures are inevitable, and it looks to me like a recession...sorry I'm off subject Again!

It's always been about "us" and the screw-everyone-else mentality has always existed. It's called capitalism.

What does it matter if gas money goes to Saudi Arabia or Venezuela? Most people would consider you crazy for being willing to pay $6.00 a gallon just to avoid a specific company. Why don't you take that willingness to pay double and go buy a hybrid or electric car (or maybe you have?).

Hah, Weebles! I'm the biggest dork in the world... I want a Vespa. But I don't think my son's car seat would fit on the back. So, for Christmas, I'm asking Santa for a bicycle with a kid seat on the back and a grocery basket on the front. I really can't justify driving to the grocery store except on the few days when my husband needs to buy water for work, in which case we stock up so we don't need to drive again for a while.

Anyone know what the helmet laws are for kids riding in a seat on their parent's bike?

madkow...I think I can outdork you. I want one of those big three-wheeler bikes (like a giant tricycle) that has the basket thingy in the back. Then I could carry my dog, or groceries or whatever. But I think my DH would be too embarrassed to buy it...or be seen with me on it :o)

And I think kids still have to have helmets on, even if they are in one of those things on an adult bike, but I don't know that for a fact.
