What a surprise!! Another complaint/Question....From Me!!

This is just one of those questions that popped into my brain on the way home this evening...

Who are the mysterious people who litter my drive way with rolled up sales papers? I'm assuming they are sales papers because they remind me of the annoying solicitors who call you all day looong.

I have never opened one. They seem to multiply overnight. I pick them up, put them in the trash and the next day there are 3 more! What gives. If I ever open one, I'm pretty sure I would find out where they are coming from and if I do find out, would a call to them... telling them to stop littering do any good?

On our way from dinner tonight, I noticed a neighbors driveway had 5 of them laying there. This is not something we have asked for and I think its a nuisance. What gives??? Does anyone else see this as a problem or have you been able to cease the problem?

Why do People complain about this??

I'm going through the articles on line and came across this genius. I'm wondering, when people move into a home near the tracks, do they give the noise a second thought any consideration when making their final decision before moving so close.

Yeah, lets all honk our horns at intersections.....great idea but WE'RE NOT TRAINS!! Quality of life issue my patooty! The quality of life in Tehachapi is....IT'S A TRAIN TOWN!! What the hell is going through peoples heads.

I am perplexed by all of the attention given to rebuilding the train depot. I've lived in Tehachapi for a few years and during this time have read several letters to your paper complaining about the noisy train horns blasting away 24 hours a day. I live over a mile from the tracks and can still hear those horns loud and clear. How all those poor souls who live within a few blocks get any sleep is a mystery to me. Are the city leaders doing anything to address this quality-of-life issue? If not, why not?
The great enthusiasm our leaders place in rebuilding a “historic” train station is nice, but perhaps their energy and money might be better spent eliminating this noise pollution from our wonderful city. If you took a poll, most residents would probably prefer less train noise over a replica train station. That location would make a great and much-need parking lot and would increase safety visibility when driving north across the tracks.
I understand the trains are following some ill-conceived Federal law mandating honking at intersections for safety purposes. Maybe we should all honk our car horns at every street intersection to keep us really safe. I suspect this was the least expensive and easiest solution for the railroad companies.
There has got to be a better answer. Bakersfield had some success in solving this problem but it was expensive. Maybe we can combine efforts and synergize with other small towns that are bombarded with this noise and force some change at the Federal level, or at the very least, get the trains to stop blowing their horns in the middle of the night.
                C. Olsen

Have you heard this song. My daughter had me listen to it today. So I was wondering...remember the comment made by the Dixie Chicks that almost ruined them. Should "Pink" be banished.

Bush is truly American's Worst Enemy

I had a very upsetting experience at work today One of my employees came in on her day off. Broke into tears and all I could do is hold her and ask her what happened. A young man that she cares for very much, was caught in the line of fire in Afghanistan. He lost a leg below the knee, and a foot on the other leg. Where is the justice or the reasoning of this? How can Bush sleep at night. This war has gone on long enough. He is causing HIS American people and the people in the mid east a lot of heartbreak. I have no respect for this man' decision making and I think he should be on the front line. I think he's a piece of crap

My prayers go out for Justin's family and friends and Bush should be ashamed of himself.

TN Bloggers Meet & Greet

The Meet and Greet scheduled for Wednesday @ 6pm, July 2 is still on. We will be meeting at Mama Hillbillies....this is NOT an organized event ... I don't think??

I'm just doing as I was told (sparks) So, this is a reminder that if you'd like to meet some of us that you are interested in....or have debated with....this would be a great time to do so. If you don't want anyone to know you...you can always drop in and stay anonymous.

Mama Hillbillies is a wonderful layed back atmosphere. They have computers or you can bring your laptop, find a couch and blog, work or whatever you do.

They also serve great drinks, coffee/tea and food. If you need directions...this is the place to ask.

I, myself am looking forward to meeting you and having a good time.

Who's else is gonna be there??

The difference between men and women

A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City, where a
woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the
products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the
sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs.

She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.

'That's nice', she thinks, 'but I want more.'

So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.

'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help
With Housework.

'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign
reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this
floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just
across the street.

The first floor has wives that love sex.

The second floor has wives that love sex and have big boobs.

The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.
Stories of Strange, fun or "different jobs"

I try not to be an angry blogger.....hence, I deleted my rant and decided to try to make a lighter side of employee/employer issues.

When I was 20, I was living in Oklahoma. I was working at Tinker Air Force Base as a Data Entry Clerk and always looking for a second job. (no kids back then)....I applied as a waitress in a BBQ diner. I was pleased when I was hired. However....the owner as he is talking to me about my duties. I'm watching him ogling one of his waitresses, ok maybe he wasn't ogling...maybe he was making sure she was cleaning the table properly. Our Uniforms were little plaid shirts with mini skirts and white boots. I felt uncomfortable thinking....I don't want this man watching me in my little short skirt as i'm washing tables. I think that was the shortest job I ever had.

Can too many Starbucks cause a heart attack???

I am completely addicted to Starbucks....Their pricey coffee is absolutely the best thing ever. I can't help it. Everyday....A Venti Quad 2 pump Iced Caffe Mocha no whip please. As a matter of fact my husband just bought be a tall regular coffee and it's just soooo much better than what comes from my coffee pot.

does anyone have an expresso machine for sale?

I was told today at work that I was gonna have a heart attack from all the extra shots of expresso I get. I don't think that's true; But after my first heart attack, maybe I'll consider dropping a couple of shots.
