http://www.tehachapinews.com/home/Blog/scottso/1681 Hi All, My family and I have just moved into the area and have finally realized our dream of returning to the small town rural life!&nbsp; After years of tolerating the noisy, grimy, impersonal world of the urban we've finally positioned ourselves where we can have our (relatively) large spread surrounded by nice friendly people and at the same time have our privacy and land that actually takes more than 30 seconds to walk through. :)&nbsp; Its heaven on earth and we're ecstatic.&nbsp;&nbsp; I can't understand why anyone goes for the urban city life.&nbsp; The conveniences of urban living do not justify the low quality of life you get in my experience.&nbsp; Especially when it comes to raising children! My wife is from a small town called Redding in Northern California so for her this place is just like home (maybe I can convince her to blog here!) .&nbsp; I'm originally from the suburbs of New York City on Long Island, which isn't quite as small as Tehachapi.&nbsp; However, I lived for 7 years in a town called Asheville in North Carolina shortly after (which is, or was at the time, about the same size and same atmosphere) and small town, rural living has been where I've wanted to be ever since I moved to southern California for a new job. I've been reading all the comments and blogs on this site for months before we moved here and I have to say I've been really impressed by how active and interested in what is going on everyone seems to be who posts here.&nbsp; This is a polar opposite of so many places I've lived prior and the quality of life in those places has suffered because of that.&nbsp;&nbsp; Its heartening to see so many people actually care about the things that happen in their town and care enough to try to do something about it.&nbsp;&nbsp; You certainly don't see that happening in the larger towns in southern California -- at least not to the same degree.&nbsp; With a relatively smaller population its a lot easier for people to be heard and I think thats a good thing and it certainly seems to show.&nbsp; While its probably good for real estate that Tehachapi seems to be growing, I hope it doesn't grow too much too fast!
