I was very shocked to hear about what recently happened to a local woman. This lady is a volunteer for the hospital guild, or should I say was. Last week I was appalled to hear that she had been fired from her volunteer position...a position that she was doing for free, on her time, because she wanted to help at the local hospital. Now first of all I have never heard of a volunteer being fired, and I have to wonder why an organization that is admittedly short of volunteers (gee I wonder why) would fire one of their own. The most shocking thing of all is the reason she was "fired". This lady's sin was taking 2 weeks off to fly out of state to be with her 2 yr old granddaughter who was having major stomach surgery. Yes, how dare this women have the audacity to care about her young grandchild...how dare she take 2 weeks off from a job she does for FREE. When the woman who decided to "fire" her told her, she told her she had taken 4 weeks off...I'm not sure how good...
