God loved us so much that he made us with free will.  This explains most of the evil that exists in the world today, you are free to choose to do good or bad or ride the fence what ever you want.  God being God could have most certainly made us only as good creatures that loved and worshiped him but there would have been no freedom in that and no satisfaction in the choice to follow Gods way.   The other fact is that the Devil also is real and rules this world we live in today.  For there to be good there also has to be bad its the distinction that we draw from a discriminating mind that makes it so.  Any person who believes in an after life should believe in Ghosts and in fact the existence of Ghosts further proves the existence of an afterlife.   I like Sam don't want to see a ghost but many people have.   I agree that deep in all of our hearts no matter what your religion even atheist we feel a connection with God he is...
