The Piano Man's Daughter by Timothy Findley... great book.  I read it in high school and still re-read it from time to time. It's the story of a mentally ill woman as told by her son, who grew up moving all around due to her paranoia... and how her life effected him, the search for his father, etc. It's fiction... but well written and easy to get wrapped up in their lives, feeling empathy for them, and wondering how they made it through life. I have not had much chance to read lately either... other than kid's books!  We're big on Curious George in our house right now... and a great train book by Kathy Mallet called "Trouble on the Tracks".  My 2 and 4 year old have it memorized!!
