Report Violation

Are you sure you want to report the following content as a violation?
Poor linguistic ability doesn't bother me so much on the blogs because I assume the writers are not editing their posts.  Linguistic failing in a Letter to the Editor or in a business document does succeed in lowering my opinion of the writer.  [ I once read a document at work and I wondered aloud if the person was drunk when it was written (I was young and inexperienced in office decorum).  Unfortunately, the writer was my supervisor and he was there to hear my editorialization.  Yeah, bad move. ]  In my opinion, it has become common to speak commonly and that has evolved into writing commonly.  It's the "dumbing down of America" that some philosophers warned of several years ago.
