The Kern County Community and Economic Development Department administers the City's contract with HUD whose funds built the Senior Center.  They have insisted upon an amendment to the lease in order for the City to be in compliance with its HUD contract.  The lease amendment places certain financial reporting requirements on the seniors that they have been unwilling to accept. The seniors and their attorney have been in discussions with the City attorney and hopefully everyone will reach a consensus soon.  When they do there is $29K and change waiting in the budget for much needed repairs to the Senior Center, for instance new roof, AC, and a list of other items they need. Thank you for your interest in the seniors and the Senior Center.  They do an awesome job providing a wide variety of activities and entertainment and I am happy to be the City Council liaison to the Senior Center.
