My father said he "hated" cats....until Brownie.  Brownie would get up onto a women's lap and put his paws on her chest and her gently knead his paws.  He never scratched or put his claws out.  My dad loved the cat after that.  He said he was a "man's" cat. The next story is not for the faint of heart....we used to live out in the country, and people do things a bit different in the country.  We had a dog that was the most happy-go-lucky dog.  But he loved to kill chickens.  So my parents said to break him of this we need to tie a dead chicken around his neck according to how things were done in the "old days".  We did this and Dancy would spend hours playing with the chicken around his neck.  He would swat it with his paws, run and swing it around just having a grand ole time.  He ended up having a "good luck" charm around his neck.  He just had a chicken foot hanging around his...
