More questions to add to mykidsparent's
Isn't it the parent's job to instill values like these? I mean, if my mom wanted me to be sure I had a sexual experience in high school, would it be the school's job to tell me she is wrong? Or if my mom was a lesbian, would it be the school's right to tell me that she is sinful or wrong?
Turned around, if my mom wanted me to stay celibate during high school, would it be the school's place to tell me that she is wrong?
This applies also to gang behaviour, illegal immigration, gothic dress, etc. If my mom tells me it's wrong, isn't it her right to teach me? If she is teaching me that it is okay and good, isn't it her right to teach me this? What right does the school have to teach me that my mom is wrong? Why put the wedge between student and parent?
