The Tehachapi junior varsity softball team split a pair of games this past week, losing to Shafter 2-0 and dispatching Arvin with ease, 32-3.Against Shafter, the Lady Braves logged in more hits in the contest than their opponent but could not turn the base appearances into runs. All but one inning Tehachapi had runners in scoring position.“We lost earlier in league to Golden Valley, but I think this one was a little tougher to swallow,” said head coach Mike Heckathorn. “It was one of those games where their mistakes didn’t cost them but our mistakes cost us.”Chelsea Maduena was the pitcher for the Lady Braves, pitching six innings, allowing only three hits and logging in 16 strikeouts.
