The Tehachapi junior varsity baseball team defeated Shafter 16-1 and 12-3 last week to help catapult them into a South Sequoia League first place tie with Taft with two weeks remaining in the season.The Braves (11-6; 7-3 SSL) came out firing on all cylinders against Shafter last Tuesday, taking a 4-0 lead through three innings and then blowing the game out of reach with an eight-run fifth inning, eventually winning by a 16-1 count. Leading batters for Tehachapi included Franky Rodriguez, who went five for five with two RBIs, three runs scored and three triples.
