Recently some Tehachapi residents took part in an action that was widely reported nationally. However, a scan through the Tehachapi News gave no indication of this heavily covered story. I’m speaking, of course, about the May 1 “Day Without an Immigrant.” I would have found it very informative to learn what the businesses that participated had to say about the day as well as those who opposed the action. Were the schools affected? How did the average resident feel about it? I have no idea because there was no news on it whatsoever. I would hope that the Tehachapi News would live up to its name and cover the news. The paper does an excellent job reporting school activities, civic and community activities. I would just like to see more news on what is happening in our fair city. — Janice Tietz
