Loring S. Briscoe, 83, passed away on Nov. 24 at the Tehachapi Hospital. He was born in Amoret, Mo. on June 21, 1923, to Frank and Belle Briscoe. He moved to California in the 1930s and graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1940. He served our country in World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the Military Police, and participated in the battle in New Guinea. He received an honorable discharge on June 18, 1946. Upon discharge from the Army, Loring started his career in the retail grocery business and eventually managed grocery operations at Thriftimart-Fitzsimmons in Van Nuys. He joined the Frito-Lay Company in 1952, where he was employed for 35 years. He received the top honor of Salesman of the Year. He loved his job of delivering Frito-Lay products to markets so much that when he was offered management positions, he turned them down. He loved the interaction with people that his job provided him. The neighborhood children would wait for him to return from work...
