The Ag Future’s Alliance (AFA) held a Spring Growers Expo on Saturday, April 14, welcoming growers and those interested in organic produce to share in a day of healthy conscious. The expo boasted a myriad of displays covering topics such as herbs, plants, flowers, and fresh, organic produce. There was a crop list and a harvest calendar provided by Taste of Tehachapi, the expo’s primary sponsor, and can be downloaded from TasteofTehachapi.com. Edna McCallion’s herb display was full of information on which herbs grow in the Tehachapi mountains and valley. The Souza Family Vineyards, Mountains Gardens Nursery, Happy Trails and Grimmway Farms Organics were other sponsors of the event. This year the City of Tehachapi, alongside Main Street Tehachapi, will partner together to operate the produce side of the local Farmer’s Market. “The idea is to get as many growers as possible in the Farmers’ Market,” said Anthony McDemas, owner of Taste...
