Every second of every minute of every day, a helpless animal is put to death just because no one was there to take them home. — Anonymous Dumping dogs in Tehachapi as well as all Kern County has reached an all time high and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. With no shelter here and nothing pending in the foreseeable future, things may only get worse. The debate: lack of education and planning or part of our disposable goods society? Plan ahead, do research and be realistic about the time and costs of a pet. People like Susie Atherton, of Canine Creek Dog Wash & Boutique, who posts daily news of lost and found animals on the Tehachapi News Web site, and Leslie Moniot, of Canine Canyon Ranch Rescue (CCRR), who rescues local abandoned animals, help where they can.
