Russell Gordon Mckenzie (Rusty), age 52, passed away in his home the evening of Feb. 6, 2008. Rusty was the son of Jim and Virginia Womack, who are residents of Oak Knolls. Rusty was born Aug. 12, 1955 with Downs Syndrome. He was adopted by the Womack family when he was 6-years-old. Rusty participated in Tehachapi’s Special Olympics Bowling Team and attended Bakersfield’s New Avances for People with Disabilities Special Education Program. Rusty volunteered his services with his mother and brother Sparky at the Tehachapi Guild and Hospital. He was great at greeting the patients at their bedsides, and brought a smile to all he came in contact with. Rusty was a great inspiration to all that knew him. He was always the life of the party. Rusty will be remembered for his affectionate demeanor, his outgoing personality and his love of music, dancing and food.
