Last week Cub Scout Pack 135 went scouting for food for our local Salvation Army. They met at the Whiting Center early Saturday morning with a truckload of food and hearts full of goodwill. Scouting for Food is a nationwide “good turn” project conducted annually by the Boy Scouts of America. Every February our Scouts answer the call to help the less fortunate, collecting food from their communities to replenish the supplies of the local food banks. Traditionally, the boys and their leaders meet in town and go door-to-door asking for donations of canned goods and non-perishable items. This year, the Scouts of Pack 135 localized their efforts, collecting from their families, friends, and neighbors in Bear Valley and Stallion Springs. The food that they gathered will be transferred to the Salvation Army here in Tehachapi and distributed locally.
