The entire season boiled down to Sunday, March 9, for the Tehachapi U14 girls spring select team. Coming off a 3-0 win on Saturday to solidify the number one seed, the team returned to Bakersfield Sunday morning to decidedly win both playoff games and capture first in league for the first time. The first game of the day was versus the fourth seeded team, Southwest Bakersfield. This game would decide who would play for the championships and who would play in the consolation bracket. Kelsey Young recorded two goals. One was a left footed shot that Coach Josh Perris was proud of. “We work on using both feet in practice, so it's good to see the girls apply it in the game,” he boasted. “We also work on set plays a lot, since we have girls like Syd (Sydney Castillo), Melanie (Roussel), and Kelsey (Young) who can deliver a great ball consistently.” The team was able to capitalize on one.
