The Kern County District Attorney's office will not file charges against a Stallion Springs police officer over a collision that resulted in the death of 40-year-old Calvin Wren, of Arvin. The accident occurred on March 16, 2007, when officer Gary Crowell was driving his patrol car northbound on Tucker Road, and entered the intersection at Tehachapi Boulevard on a red traffic light. Calvin Wren was riding his motorcycle westbound on Tehachapi Boulevard when the two vehicles collided at the intersection. Wren died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. According to reports at the time, Crowell was responding code-3 (lights and sirens) to back up a fellow officer when the accident occurred. Stallion Springs Chief of Police Brad Burris has declined repeated requests for a copy of the police report for the arrests resulting from that initial call for back up.
