A celebration of Lewis’ life was held Monday, March 31, at the Life Awareness Center in Tehachapi. Lewis was born in Cleveland, Miss. At the age of 18, he became an ordained minister and has been preaching nationwide ever since. He married Annie Lee Hudson on Dec. 23, 1950 in Oxford, Miss. They were blessed with six children, Lewis D. born in 1952, Judy D. born in 1956, Virginia A. born in 1961, Brenda L. born in 1962, Terence D. born in 1964, and Gracie born in 1966. They were also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law Barney Helms and Chris Hunt, one daughter-in-law Theresa, two sisters Virginia and Elsie, two brothers Boyce and Dennis, and two adopted sisters Ruthie and Betty. Lewis was a great inventor, a published writer as well as visionary and humanitarian.
