Long-time Tehachapi resident, James “Jim” Joseph Bodnar, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, in Lancaster. He was 79 years old. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. A Vigil service is also scheduled for Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Jim was born in Marion, Ohio on July 26, 1928, to parents Charles and Elizabeth Bodnar. He led a full and active life.  He served his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952, and continued to serve his country with pride as a firefighter in the Vernon, Calif. Fire Department for 26 years. On his off-duty days, he also painted houses and continued to do that after his retirement. He married Betty May Green on July 16, 1966, in Long Beach, Calif.
