On the morning of April 24, our family lost a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joe Palos. Joe was born on Nov. 28, 1943 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He came to the United States when he was 4 years old. He graduated from Tehachapi High in 1962. After graduation, he worked for Monolith Cement Company, in Tehachapi, until he was drafted to serve his country. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 as an aircraft mechanic. He served in Vietnam and was awarded with several medals for his service and conduct. After the military he returned to work at Monolith. In February of 1968, he received his U.S. citizenship certificate. In February of 1973, he married his best friend and life-long companion, Robbie. In October of 2006, Joe completed a 42-year career at Lehigh Southwest, retiring as an electrician. Joe was devoted to his family, loved the outdoors, and was always optimistic.
