The May 19 Tehachapi City Council meeting was cut short due to a lack of a quorum. With only two council members present city business had to be tabled until the June 2 meeting. The council was able to proceed with non-business matters. Tehachapi Police Explorer Post The Tehachapi Police Explorer Post   is the city's local unit of the Boy Scouts of America Exploring program. It is aimed at young men and women 14 to21 years old that are interested in learning about a potential career on law enforcement. Tehachapi City Police Chief Jeff Kermode said, “We currently have 17 active members in the post. Our Explorers have provided assistance with several community events, including Mountain festival, Earth day, THS football games and Main Street events.” The explorers generally meet twice a week, receiving training on a variety of law enforcement related topics, as well as learning about leadership. physical fitness, and self-confidence.
