The International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA), whose mission is to further the exchange of technical information in the field of test and evaluation, recently awarded a grant of $5,000 to the Tehachapi High School For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Team. Their generous grant will fund a sensor and motor test bench to help train THS students in robotics, physics and test and evaluation principles. The test bench will also be available for use to Tehachapi High Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (THEMA) and physics class students. Robotics team members learn program management, budgeting, engineering, construction, programming and testing, after which they compete in regional and national competitions with high school teams from around the world.
