About Linda
I moved to Tehachapi with my husband, James, in January of 2007 from Old Agoura (Agoura Hills, CA). We were very active in our community of Old Agoura. I was the 4H Community Club leader, the 4-H Pygmy Goat and Pig Project Leader, at one point wrote the HOA Newsletter, was a Girl Scout Leader, was on the HOA Board, and chaired the HOA annual fundraiser BBQ for 3 years. I worked in the Record Business for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. I did everything from artist relations, music publishing, business affairs and publicity. These experiences included going on the road with artists like Jethro Tull, Huey Lewis, Blondie, working with songwriters like David Bowie and throwing parties at mansions or high profile stores in Beverly Hills. I coordinated an 80 country satellite broadcast of a Jethro Tull concert. I worked at Chrysalis Records (most of the time), Hollywood Records (a Disney Company) and Virgin Records. I loved the music, the artists and the craziness of the business but at some point during my 2 year tenure at Virgin, got burnt out. I took a little time off and settled on a part time job in the local Agoura School District. Part time grew into almost full time. Little job became in charge of the Transition programs for our Special Ed High School Students. I wrote grants, designed the programs, interacted with the community, lectured in classrooms. Again, I love working with teenagers. If there is one way to keep your finger on the pulse of what is going on, it is to be around teenagers. I left education when I moved to Tehachapi where I was running a company (family owned business) for my brother-in-law. It is an ecommerce business with the own website for selling Christian products. A real change from anything I've ever done before. A great experience learning so much about internet stores, buying, posting etc. However, it did not prove to be the money maker we all hoped so I left that business. At the moment I am retired but constantly looking for a job that I might find challenging and rewarding. I don't want to have a commute to work which is a challenge in Tehachapi. I also want to be able to travel which is something I have been doing a lot of since the move to Tehachapi. We shall see.
