About Tehachapi
Tehachapi Community Theatre was founded in 1968 under the wisdom of John and Barbara King, Zella Young, Alice Preiskorn, Walt and Pam Bray and others that shared a passion for theatre and its place in our community. Presenting its first performance in the Wells School Auditorium, TCT has consistently produced quality productions ranging from drama, comedy, musical, melodrama, and other special engagements. In 2003, TCT moved into its current home located within the Tehachapi Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA). Our new “Studio Theatre” has produced an exciting, new approach to the way we present our productions, allowing for maximum creativity and thought “outside the box.” Over the years, TCT has had many faces on stage, in the director’s chair and behind the scenes, but one thing hasn’t changed, TCT’s commitment to serve the community of Tehachapi with its incredible offerings.
As TCT looks forward, its mission is to expand the role of our ever growing community into theatre arts. While politicians continue to limit federal funding for the arts, it is organizations like TCT that reach out to the public and offer a place for a challenging and rewarding experience. TCT is truly a community theatre and it welcomes all new-comers to audition for a role in an upcoming performance, volunteer to help operate the playhouse, learn behind the scenes applications and many other duties. Please browse the pages of TCT's website, www.tctplays.org to find where you fit into our community theatre. TCT welcomes you!!!
