Two Easter Sunday Services

Great singing, enthusiastic participation from children and youth, and encouraging words from the Scriptures always make for a time of celebration. Mountain Bible Church will host two Easter morning services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. This year’s theme is about the single most important event in human history, “The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.”

Our children will present a ‘Reader’s Theater’ entitled: “He’s Alive” showing Jesus’ resurrection which guaranteed that all sinners can be rescued from Satan’s kingdom of suffering and darkness and brought into Christ’s Kingdom of forgiveness and light.

Soloist Sally Periman will be singing two all-time Easter favorites: “The Holy City” and “My Redeemer Lives.” Our youth group will present a drama based on Mary meeting Jesus at the tomb on that first Easter Sunday. Our sermon will show that because of Christ’s Resurrection every person can have a second chance to start their life anew.

Matinee and Evening Show for Christmas

Mountain Bible Church is hosting a very special Christmas Show this year. Set in late 1941, I'll Be Home for Christmas is the story of the faith of a family, and a nation on the brink of World War II, preparing to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace. A choir provides music and drama as it is broadcast over the family radio. The music highlights the sounds of the 1940's, including swing, lush ballads, and big band songs interspersed with re-enactments of radio broadcasts during that era. Original music mixed with familiar Christmas favorites form the backdrop for this memorable dramatic musical. Book by Deborah Craig-Claar; music by Mark Hayes. All shows are free but seating is limited.

Mountain Bible Church Fall Family Fun Festival 2007

On September 9^th, 2007, Mountain Bible Church will be celebrating it’s 36^th anniversary with a special, once-a-year, single worship service from 10:00-12:00. An afternoon of fun and fellowship will follow from 12:00-3:00 with enjoyable activities and competitions for the kids, fantastic music for your listening pleasure, and wonderful food - $3.00 adults & $2.00 children.

This year’s annual celebration will feature special music from Jim “the Barber” Phillips. Many people know Jim for his artistic talent with barber sheers, but not everyone knows that Jim’s extraordinary skill on drums has found him in the company of many famous musicians and talent from Hee Haw, the late Buck Owens, and Merle Haggard, to name a few. His drumming talent and singing voice awarded him the invitation to travel with some of the “greats” in the music industry, but Jim’s commitment to home and family kept him stationary here in Tehachapi where he accepted opportunity to play at the Crystal Palace and other local establishments. Jim just recently completed a recording filled with inspirational gospel music, which will be available for purchase at the festival.

English as a Second Language Offered

In communities all across the United States and Canada, there are a rapidly increasing number of people who want and need to learn to speak English. Non-English speakers come to us in many ways some as migrant workers, international students, exchange students, and spouses of military personnel.

The ability to speak English is essential for employment in the United States. Many are highly educated in their own countries, but their limited English language skills restrict their employment opportunities in the United States. Teaching English to these students helps meet a basic economic need – obtaining a better job so they can better provide for their families.

Many non-native English speakers isolate them themselves in their homes. They speak only to their families or others who speak their language. Church-based English as a Second Language (ESL) provides a non-threatening opportunity to practice English, to build friendships, and develop emotional support. As a German student told her class and teachers, “You are my lifeline.”

Church-based ESL changes the lives of both students and teachers. Students learn and develop skills necessary to function effectively in the United States. They are exposed to cultural themes, inspirational thoughts, conversational English, and supportive relationships and friendships. The teachers are blessed with helping their neighbors and gaining new friendships.

Mountain Bible Church understands this need in the Tehachapi community and is offering assistance to anyone wanting to learn or improve their English language skills. We have scheduled two class times to choose from that go for 8-weeks: Sundays from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, childcare is provided; and Tuesdays from 9:30am to 11:00am; no childcare available, but children are welcome. Classes will begin January 14^th.

Grammy Nominee Bobby Michaels Coming to Tehachapi

Bobby Michaels, the founder of ‘Musicianaries’ will be presenting a concert September10 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Mountain Bible Church, 630 Maple Street in Tehachapi. Bobby’s humble heart and his rich tenor-baritone voice will lift and inspire you.

If you’ve ever considered going to other nations as a missionary, then this is a concert you won’t want to miss. He recruits people in local churches for short term commitments to go overseas with ‘Musicianaries.’ Not only are musicians and sound technicians needed, they also need, Christians with medical training and people who are prayer warriors. If you are gifted at interacting with children, they need you when they go into the villages. If you can hand out literature to villagers, or if you can hand out rice/food then you are needed. If this interests you then come and find out how to get involved.

Bring any musical instruments you are not using so it can be given to indigenous churches around the world where the people could never afford to purchase the instrument themselves. And if the instrument needs repair bring it anyway because a ‘repair expert’ in Florida fixes them before they are taken to these churches.
