CALLING ALL ALUMNI FROM THE 1986-1987-1988-1989 and 1990 CLASSES!

I am trying to reach people from the Tehachapi High School classes from 1986-1990 so I can plan a multi year reunion for this coming August. Hopefully in conjunction with Mountain Festival. Please contact me with any contact info that you may have for any alumni at alfnjm@yahoo.com and just put reunion in the subject line so I don't delete the e-mail.

Thanks,

The Tehacahpi Fall Contra Dance will be at the West Park Activity Center this Friday night. These dances, the closest you can come to an old-fashioned Barn Dance, have been held about every three months for the last two years. This dance is free, though contributions will be accected.

We do circle dances, reels, and contradances. They are fun; they are perfect for everyone in the family. All dances are taught, and the caller continues to call the moves as long as needed. The moves are the same simple moves you learned as a kid, the dances are simple, but as the live music quickens, the dances become more exciting than you would ever expect. As a town we are learning to dance better; the contras are growing more complex. If you have not been before, do come. Come as a single, a couple, a family. You will have fun!

Of course the September Dance is sponsored by the Old Time Fiddlers and is part of their Fiddle Contest. If you come early, you can listen to fiddling, and eat dinner (provided this year by Jake's Steakhouse) or ice cream and pie.

POW/MIA Day is Friday, Sept. 19
Ceremony to be held at VFW
A recognition ceremony for Prisoners of War and military members Missing In Action will be held at noon at the 5948th Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 221 West Tehachapi Blvd.

A short ceremony will be conducted by the Commander of The Tehachapi Mountain Post 5948 with participation by Commander of the Post #221 American Legion, or his delegate.

The presentation of a Prisoner Of War flag will be made to survivor, Steve Mitchell, who was a prisoner of war of the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge. Mitchell escaped and was caught again, so one could say he was a prisoner of war twice.

Attending the presentation of flag and honor are two other survivors of the Battle Of The Bulge:
William Jasper and Emery Hubbard, both of the 5948th VFW and 221rst American Legion posts. See www.wwiimemorial.com for more info.

Additional honorees, invited guests and public dignitaries will be in attendance. Please come and celebrate the achievements of these special veterans.
