Sondra Jeffus and Jayne Scardello, members of Tehachapi Tomo-Kahni Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, assembled 137 candy baskets to brighten up the Easter festivities for the veterans residing at the Veterans Retirement Home, Barstow.
The baskets were made by Sondra and her sister, Dorothy Henry, also a DAR member. Jayne’s grandchildren attend Tompkins Elementary School and she arranged to have the students in the class rooms of Mr. Lehotsky and Mrs. Grimes make greeting cards to accompany the baskets.
“Have a Chiky Day!” was just one of the expressions created by an imaginative student. The cards and baskets were delivered by Jayne and Sondra before the Easter weekend.
The Easter Bunny could not have had more willing helpers.
