In the book, “The Canal Murder,” ex-cop Claire Burton is struggling to manage her diabetes as well as a private investigation agency when a big murder case walks through her door. The case forces Claire to deal with her former fiancé as she works to solve the mystery. Following clues to the killer leads Claire to the seamy side of town and ultimately to a life-threatening climax in the woods. The path Claire follows also leads her to accept her diabetes.
