A funeral service was held on Monday, May 1, at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel for Garla Edna Claypool, 94, who passed away on April 26 in Tehachapi.

She was born on June 16, 1911 in Castle, Okla. Edna quit her nursing career of 15 years to marry James Claypool and raise two sons. She took great pride in being a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed vacations to countless state parks, sharing nature’s wonders with the ones she loved so dearly, not to mention tons of trout caught from the Colorado River through the years.

Edna loved Tehachapi and her fresh-air walks. She had a great sense of humor and never hesitated to sit, visit and talk.

Though Alzheimers disease took hold the last years of her life, there were still occasions when she would mention concern and love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, accepting that they were healthy, happy and just fine.
We love you Mom. We love you Grandma.

Edna is survived by her sons, Warren Claypool and his wife Lois of Tehachapi; and John Claypool and his wife Bridgett of Flagstaff, Ariz.; grandchildren, Greg, Cheryl, Brixie, Mike, Sean and Darren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pastor Ron Barker officiated at the service. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
