A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m., for Emil Otto Hauck, 91, who passed away on May 3 at Tehachapi Hospital.

Emil was born on July 6, 1914 in Akaska, S.D. He moved from South Dakota to Shafter at the age of 21 where he worked as a farm hand. Around 1934, he moved to the Tehachapi area where he continued his farming in the Cummings Valley. He met his wife of 66 years, Audrey May Williams, while she was working as a cook. They were married on Jan. 25, 1937. Later, Emil had his own field of potatoes on Valley Boulevard. On Jan. 3, 1947 he began a 34 year career as a custodian and bus driver for the Tehachapi School District.

Emil was one of the first members of the Church of the Nazarene and continued to serve in the church in many capacities over the years. He leaves many friends in the community, including former students and acquaintances.

Emil is predeceased by his wife, Audrey in 2003. He is survived by his son, Daniel Hauck of Tehachapi; daughters, Judy Plymire of Tehachapi and Sheila Ridler of Kentucky; grandchildren, Charlotte Best, Bradley Plymire, Chrystal Ridler, Ben Hauck, Amanda Ridler, Danielle Hauck, Rebecca Hauck and Brianna Hauck; and three great-grandchildren.
