Tehachapi is one of the greatest places in the U.S. to live. It’s not being large and important that makes it great, it’s the peace and quiet, the simplicity and the friendly people that make it so wonderful. Is it possible that we may be losing all this?
Could the comfortable little town we all love someday be turned into a large city full of crime? Already you can see the change. We can’t stop it, but we can keep Tehachapi the same comfortable place it’s always been even if our numbers reach 10 million.
There is hope that our town will still feel like it always has even if it’s large. It will take effort from everyone to keep Tehachapi the way it is, but what we fight for is well worth the effort.
In the past, Tehachapi was more than just a small town, it was a community. you would probably have known everyone in town. We no longer have that but we still have the sense that we’re all still neighbors and that one person’s troubles affect everyone else too.
The people who move in from larger cities don’t understand the way we live. They don’t care about the community and before we know it, we’ll have all sorts of problems such as littering, graffiti and just a feeling that it’s every man for himself.
If we can work together, we can keep Tehachapi the way it’s always been. So stand up and be friendly to the people around you. Help your neighbor. Pick up litter. Take time away from yourself to help the community. And maybe we can save our Tehachapi.
