A new committee is forming in Bear Valley Springs. How many residents complain about things falling apart, the low level of maintenance and facilities, unenforced rules, apathetic management and the level of fighting and law suits present in Bear Valley?

The BVS Improvement Committee is a non-political action group that seeks to improve this very special valley. We do not support candidates, we support ideas.

Very few property owners show up for board meetings. Very few property owners write of their concerns or needs to management. Many residents complain to each other and discontent grows. There is also a general feeling that “my letter gets lost, my idea is pushed aside, what can a person do.”

There is power in numbers. Concentrating on one or two things at a time makes for change and that is the reason for the committee.

The improvement committee will identify areas that need improvement and actively seek to build community support to get the changes made and promote voter participation.

If we see a good job being done in the valley, we also wish to have that work acknowledged. There are many good things being done here that are taken for granted.

Currently measure F is an issue in front of the BVS community. This is not a political issue but one of improvement. This measure will help with road quality but more importantlty will secure the gate with legally mandated and designated funding. No gate would equal no tax money. The BVS Improvement Committee's first act is to support this measure.

Could it be true that a group is forming that actually wants to make Bear Valley better for its residents (as opposed to another grab for self gratification and power)? Oh I hope so! As a Bear Valley resident, I tire of local political power plays. The kitchen law suit and an over zealous neighbor (who was a member of the Environmental Control Committee) have made me suspicious of any emerging political activity. Is this just another power play? It sounds very much like a political action group despite claiming to be a “non-political action group.” Will they want to remove unneeded or unwanted rules, as well as support some new ones? Will they try to streamline the Bear Valley bureaucracy or will they add to it? Will they remind our local authorities that government exists to serve its people; in this case, Bear Valley residents? Time will tell; I will keep one eye on this one.
