In the Book of Genesis we are told that God blessed Abraham. To bless means to grant a favor or to provide prosperity.
God blessed Abraham by giving him faith and by promising him great things.
God promised Abraham that his descendants would be a great nation and that one of them would bless all nations.
Abraham and his wife Sarah were unlikely choices for this blessing. He was 75 years old while she was 65 and they had no children.
God did not tell Abraham all of the details of His plan such as how long it would be before their son was born or how his descendent would bless all nations. But Abraham trusted God, even though he did not always understand what was happening.
When God blesses us, He does not always tell us in advance what is going to happen. He asks us to trust Him and to believe that He will guide and protect us.
Today we have many material blessings such as food, clothing and shelter.
We also have spiritual blessings like faith and a place to worship the Lord.
But God does not always tell us how He wants us to use our blessings. He may ask us to face challenges and difficulties so we will become better at witnessing our faith and sharing His love.
As God blesses us He leads us to be a blessing to others. God will direct us to use all our blessings and abilities to serve Him.
As we work in God's kingdom we are blessed with the knowledge of God's guidance. We feel His presence as He gives us the words to say that become a blessing for the people around us.
We praise God for blessing us and pray that He leads us to bless others.
