Effective witnessing saves people from God’s judgment. In the line of work of saving people, fire fighters have saved many in the call of duty, at all costs, even to their own death. Jude, chapters 21 through 23, says to “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life by hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”
Yes, we as Christians hate the sin stained by corrupted flesh, just as the firefighters hate to walk into a fire. We as Christians must witness the love of Christ to the sinner.
As we are walking into the flames, we see smoke and a dark cloud around the person who has sin in their life. One has to think like a fire fighter to put out the fires of sin with the word of God. The Bible will extinguish the fires of sin.
Smoke always lingers after a fire. The “new Christian,” who has let the Holy Spirit into their life has put the flames of fire to a halt. But he still has to be aware of the smoke. The smoke is dangerous, and wants to keep us deceived from seeking truth.
More deaths occur from smoke inhalation than from the fire itself, making the smoke the No. 1 enemy in a fire. What happens to many Christians is that first, the smoke is lingering, meaning friends may lead you back to sin. Second, the devil lets you know of your past sins. Third, you forget the One who died for you: Jesus.
By hearing the word of God, and openly receiving everlasting life with Jesus, the firefighter has put out the fire. We should give thanks to God and to the people who risk their lives everyday.
We should not take sin lightly, it is a matter of life and death. You have heard of the saying, “Play with matches and you may get burned!” Well, light a match in bed and you may burn the house down. This is a true statement for a person who looks to sin within their everyday life.
What does it take to be a fire fighter for Jesus? The first thing would be to be in the word of God. Second is to have all the right tools to put the fire out. Third, you must teach people that fires can destroy everything around, and that it’s sole purpose is to destroy.
The Bible tells us it is the Word of God that fights the enemy: the devil. Only with these tools can we stand up against the fiery flames of hell. We must also respect the fire as a wild being that is untamed. We too, cannot compromise with sin. When reaching out to others we must be sure our own footing is safe and secure. If the ladder falls out from beneath us, and lands on the ground, we have taken the ones we are trying to save down with us, into the fire, and we may not come out of it alive.
Christians have to take action because now is the time to save the lost and seek the needs of our nations. Run with the gear God has given you to do His will. Be as the lights and sirens on the fire trucks in your city, knowing all the nations will know when you are going to put out a fire.
Hebrews 11:31, says “With God’s love we will overthrow the kingdoms, we will shut the mouth of lions, we will quench the flames of fire, and escape the death of the sword, our weakness will turn to strength. We will become strong in battle and we will see many come to knowing the truth.”
Hold on to the faith, for when the Lord comes with His angels, there will be no fire fighters to call upon for those left behind.
